So Mayo win a League Title and a number of pundits take the opportunity to have a go at them for enjoying the occasion. 'Over celebrating' they said. They won a national title, they were very happy, they ran over to celebrate and acknowledge their fans in the Cusack Stand, supporters who have travelled all over the country supporting this team for years. They returned home and had a night out in Castlebar, some of them were back at work on Monday and all were back at training on Tuesday. I cannot understand how you would call this over celebrating?? Ha ha i wouldn't take offense to be honest, you need broad shoulders when your loosening but broader shoulders when you are winning. We've lost a couple of championship games this decade and we get called robotic, lucky because of the weather, other teams just didnt show up, refs, money, away games. populations. We just smile and wind up. You wont ever get everyone acclaim nor should you seek or need everyone else acknowledgement. Self sustaining confidence is key as everyone else is out to knock you, just be proud of what you have done and doing and let everyone else worry about their loosing. Just use it to your advantage and add it your edge, build an aura, psychologically create a fear and disempower a team. We beat a lot of team by just being Dublin. Create a siege mentality. Own every knock and use it to your advantage. TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 4441 - 08/04/2019 14:20:05 2178058 Link 5 |
Dont worry some pundits just love to moan. Its like when they said Limerick were too good for this time of year as if its better tactics to be crap on purpose in march Breezy (Limerick) - Posts: 1236 - 08/04/2019 14:22:04 2178059 Link 2 |
Don't take it to heart. dublin5 (Dublin) - Posts: 30 - 08/04/2019 14:37:16 2178061 Link 0 |
We dont take it to heart and the criticism does not effect us. You'd just wonder why some people have to be so negative about the game all the time and keep trying to drain the joy and excitement out of it instead of promoting the good side of it. Which pundits specifically? Sounds like a strawman to me! kazoochka (Galway) - Posts: 343 - 08/04/2019 15:05:45 2178064 Link 1 |
Pundits have to try to keep their name relevant in some way, so what better way than with sensationalist nonsense? iarmhi_an_mhaith (Westmeath) - Posts: 268 - 08/04/2019 15:32:02 2178069 Link 1 |

No problem with them celebrating the win but the crying was a bit much imo it's only the league at the end of the day save the tears for September when we do the 5 in a row. clondalkindub (Dublin) - Posts: 9926 - 08/04/2019 16:38:14 2178072 Link 8 |
The last time I checked the GAA was an amateur game which means that players should really enjoy every thing they achieve as they are not going to be remunerated for their efforts. Donegalman (None) - Posts: 3830 - 08/04/2019 16:38:25 2178073 Link 4 |
I don't think I heard any valued pundit say we over celebrated...? By a valued pundit I mean an ex coach or player...people who generally know what they are talking about. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11219 - 08/04/2019 17:56:21 2178082 Link 5 |
Yeh I've heard a bit of mocking on podcasts etc, who gives a flying f**k what they say, I don't blame Mayo fans for being ecstatic. realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8571 - 08/04/2019 18:18:55 2178087 Link 4 |
Which pundits have done down the nonsensical rabbit hole? MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13692 - 08/04/2019 19:01:41 2178091 Link 4 |
I think some lad is sowing the seeds for his narrative in the 90% likelihood that Mayo don't go on to win the All Ireland. Whammo86 (Antrim) - Posts: 4172 - 08/04/2019 19:13:32 2178092 Link 6 |
Who are these people you refer to?

Bang on. It's an easy gig, keep banging on that Mayo have some sort of mental flaw and most of the time you'll be "proved" right. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13692 - 08/04/2019 20:54:36 2178103 Link 4 |
Keep celebrating. We might have a chance against ye in high Summer if we meet ye. Seriously though ye are entitled to celebrate and should not care what pundits say.

A well known journalist from Munster wrote about Galway hurlers "over celebrating" their league final win in 2017. He had to take a different tack later that year when we won the All Ireland! As was said above, pundits sometimes will write nonsense just to seem relevant. PoolSturgeon (Galway) - Posts: 1898 - 08/04/2019 20:57:20 2178106 Link 1 |
