What's his link with roscommon? Why not stay and fight for his place playing with his own county? Is he that desperate to play inter county football that he left his own native team to go play with roscommon ?

Maybe Declan D'Arcy could answer that.

Declan Darcy' s father frank was from aughawillan in Co. Leitrim, Declan grew up there and he played his club football for aughawillan in Leitrim, won 3 in a row of senior club champs with them, played in connaught club finals with them, he won a connaught u-21 title with Leitrim in 1991 before playing senior and a connaught title he captained them to in '94 before his transfer to dublin where he played a year or two. But that's his leitrim link. What's cox's roscommon links?

His father is from Roscommon. Infairness he is plenty good enough for county level but was just unlucky that he happened to be trying to break into the most competitive full forward line in the country. He is 25 and not getting any younger so now was the best time for him to go. He did his best to make the breakthrough in Kerry. I suppose the only question is would Peter Keane have had more mass in him than Fitzmaurice?

Roscommon might be the perfect fit for Cox and i hope he has a great county career."
Yes, I meant to write All Irelands. I think it's 12,15, and 16 he won Junior AI medals. He was a star too for UCC in the Sigerson when they won it back in 13/14 and even managed to outshine a talent like Paul Geaney. In any case, maybe Cox wouldn't be starting for Kerry this year but he would be some man to bring off the bench in a roll a bit like Kevin Mc has been for the Dubs over this past decade.

I think he definitely wants to show himself and others he can cut it at the highest level. I've no doubt that he can and in a game where ultimately scores matter he'll prove his value to Roscommon and to those who doubted.

Cox has the same family link to Roscommon as Darcy did to Leitrim. His father is from there.

A very exciting player to watch who will be a very big addition to rosscommon in the coming years and they no doubt will appreciate his talents more than eamon fitz Maurice from finuge ( listowel s next door arch rivals ).
