Corofin V Dr Crokes

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Well done to Corrifin, that was another fantastic performance from them. They were superior all over the pitch and in truth could have won by more. They are the Dublin of the club championship, just a level above every other team. Do other posters think we could be watching one of the best club sides of all time?

Finally hard luck to Crokes, they had a great year but it just didnt happen for them today. No shame in getting beat by Corrifin.

hard to believe that Corofin were so so lucky to get a draw on a miserable foggy day in their county final...looking back the margins are so fine...the team they beat will probably wonder how they would have go on outside the county if they had held on the first day.....the Crokes number 2 had to go for not only kicking he Corofin player in the face, but the intent alone...some angles didnt show the contact on the face but one angle did, and the blood pouring out of the Corofin players nose and mouth said it all...2 poor finals from a neutral point of view...

You would also have to consider Mountbellew Moylough, they drew with Corofin in the Galway final. And I believe they were first time finalists (that particular team, not the club) so they will approach this year's Galway Championship with a bit of confidence.
Overall it is most likely that today was Corofin's target from the moment the Galway SFC commenced.

The Corofin lads must love heading to training when they play football like that.

Corofin are an absolute joy to watch when in full flow. They seemed to take the foot off the pedal in the early part of the second half but Crokes weren't able to punish them. Although the emphasis is on team-play, they have some brilliant individual players. Burke got MOT but it could quite easily have gone to Molloy who is an amazing athlete.

Corofin would beat alot of county teams the pace
in which they play was a joy to watch plus there angles
of running there physical trainer must take alot of credit
like last year they peaked when it mattered having watched
Crokes in the semi final there backs looked poor when ran at
with the forwards Corofin has there was only one result Crokes
were way off the pace playing like a team that just came together
before the game

Replying To kiloughter:  "True. Maybe the tide is turning as in fairness we kicked passed an awful lot in our last two league games against both our neighbours. 1-17 yesterday not a bad return. Whether or which Brolly and O'Rourke will use some other cover before giving KW any credit. We beat arguably the 2nd best team in the country 3 yrs in a row in the Connacht championship and got zilch credit for it. More shocking than some elements of our system/style"
Who is the Corofin manager? Would he be in the running for the Galway job?

The only chance you have of beating Corofin is in November/December on a tight county pitch in horrible conditions once they get to Croker it's Harlem Globetrotters stuff they are unbelievable can't get over that display Crokes are a savage team but Corofin on another level.

Liam Silke is going to be a big player for Galway this summer he's a class act he was missed last summer

Because of county board politics and/or because he's not a sheep? Some county boards don't seem to like Corofin coaches, past or present who aren't sheep.

Interesting point. Some local conversation previously pointed to Rochford being a runner for Galway at some point in the future. I note in an interview with him on the indo on Sat when he left Mayo managing another Connacht county was not an option.

Exceptional player playing on an exceptional team. Should they be split in two for next years club championship?

Ask Belclare there. That'll be one half, I'd imagine.

I believe some of the best players on the current team are from Belclare, but Corofin would still give them a serious contest in the county final. :)

Besides Stephen Rochford our own county board is a law unto themselves. Kevin McStay ignored for a prearranged appointment. Mickey Moran pushed aside after getting us to the final in his only year in charge. I wonder did they even consider a Rochford and Horan coaching team for 2019? They seem as regressive as coaches and players are progressive.
