He took it and bounced back up Belclare... he didn't go leaving the pitch like a big Galway forward did after being hit by a man at least two stone lighter than him a few of years back. That humbling experience probably was part of the making of him mind...

Mayo won though so a bit irrelevant. Big hits are all well and good but there not even worth 1 point

Galway current team are blessed with loads of former players of the year and all stars i cant under stand why they not favourites for all Ireland ahead of dublin

Let's hope our future blessings include a few All Ireland medals 123... then there'll be no talking to us:)

Replying To GerBo:  "I think James Horan & Mayo will be very foolish if they dont go out to win this game. Yes with 6 pts already on the table there main goal of safety is achieved barring a miracle (Cork were relegated with 6 pts in 2016 but I dont see Mayo suffering the same fate) and of course Horan main goal will be now to continue blood new players to build squad depth for the Championship. However given their excellent start, the mind set has to alter now as there is a golden opportunity Mayo now to reach the Final and possibly win a National Final in Croke Park. They should must approach this game knowing we win and that's Dublin out of the picture for the Final. Now only that but it would a huge boost too for the Mayo player to beat Dublin and especially in Croke Park. Mayo haven't beaten Dublin in League/Championship since the AI Semi-Final in 2012 - that 13 game in total so they will most certainly feell they are due a win. Any time you got the chance to beat the Dubs you have to grab with both hands regardless of the time of year as both Monaghan and Kerry have done.

The second reason I think Mayo should go all out for the win is a another defeat for Dublin and suddenly a few questions are going to asked of the Dubs and just maybe a bit of doubt could start to creep. I know its only February and the League but for the first time under Jim Galvin will have lost back-back games and 3 games in 4. Dublin will definitely be in a relegation battle then although you would still very much expect to stay up but who knows as Roscommon away wont be as easy as recent meetings vs the Rossies (confident among the Rossies will be buzzing if they get 2 pts vs Cavan) and Tyrone at Croker is banana skin (good chance Tyrone will have 5 pts by then). I know the League is not a major priority for Dublin this year but lets all honest we still excepted to be in top 3 at the very least (I say the players and management did too) and losing 3 of their first 4 games definitely was not on the agenda."
Steady

Mayo have a good few young lads putting their hands up for positions for the championship but I can only see one position that's available and that's up front I can't see anywhere else for them on the team? There's pretty much 14 guaranteed starters in that Mayo team, am I wrong ? Do you think that will be the 14 guaranteed starters ?

Vaughan not certain to start.
Honestly C O Connor should be under pressure to hold his spot, he shouldnt be guaranteed a spot going by form the last year or 2.
Andy might be used as an impact sub.
AOS might go too mid field.
Mayo have always lacked good options from the bench, its whats cost us games and if the new lads can keep up there form then they provide the good options

Mayo 3/1 to win this.

Fantastic price, now that we know the Dubs are finished. ;)

Dublin will go though the gears winning by 4-6 pulling up.

Hopefully dampen the expections of some of the Mayo supporters.

I can't see Dublin losing this one at home. They are not going to lose a third league game, especially in Croke Park.

Harsh on O Connor he's been Mayo's best forward since '11, does the kid Fionn MacDonagh get in or is it too early to say? What about Reape at full forward?

I don't expect Mayo to win this one, but the notion that the Dubs only lose the games they're not motivated to win is part of what has Leinster in the state it's in. You gotta keep putting it up to them!

There's a difference between banter and a put-down. When Belclare writes something good humoured and clever like Festy did it'll be joyfully received in the same spirit.
