Fermanagh V Kildare

Replying To KeshGFC:  "I hope you enjoyed those sour grapes all the way home lad .. if you took those lilly tinted glasses off you might have seen the embarrassing display of diving Kildare resorted to when they were had no plan b against our defence .. your team were rightly booed off the pitch at half time by the home support for trying to intimidate the younger lads on the team .. last night match was enthralling stuff if not for the purists .. would you prefer all teams just make it easier to score is that your plan for success ? Good luck with that .. you guys knew exactly what you'd face but you wouldn't have thought that watching u play last night .. you win or learn .. or maybe YOU win or Moan !"
Home support booing the opposition isn't exactly a new thing, just so you know. You lads can't even agree on the game itself, one says it wasn't one for the purists, the other lad says it was a great game of football. That "style" of football might work in the wet winter nights when 2 points is all that's at stake but when the championship comes around you just end up getting the football lesson we gave you last year. As I said, Fermanagh are good at what they do, just only gets you so far when there's a lack of ambition.

Replying To gotmilk:  "Lets look at the facts.

Fermanagh had 5 points from play, Kildare 1
Fermanagh had 22 shots, Kildare 11
Fermanagh finished with 15 players, Kildare 14
Fermanagh should have had zero reds, I counted 3 for kildare that the ref let go.

Take into account that Fermanagh were without all star nominated Che Cullen and lost Eoin Donnelly to injury early on, it doesn't say much about Kildare.

There was only one side who tried to play football last night and I can promise you that it wasn't Kildare. Crazy how many hits of the ball that Kildare were dishing out. Ricey was right in telling your lads on the field that you aren't going to win Leinster this year."
Just goes to show we don't play the defensive game and we never will. If we lose we'll lose playing football. I'd much prefer to see us putting our faith in that route. Whatever about reds, Fermanagh should have had at least one black card when Conway was hauled to the ground but the ref then did him for over carrying!! You weren't the only ones missing players. All star nominated Kevin Flynn and Paul Cribbin, along with Brophy, all certain starters. Jimmy Hyland rested. Telling everyone Kildare won't win Leinster this year wouldn't exactly make Ricey a scientist, same as Fermanagh not going to win Ulster doesn't make me one either.

The notion that Kildare can criticse the way Fermanagh played football in that match after the display they put on last night is hilarious. Damn near everything you citicise Fermanagh for, Kildare were doing the same if not worse.

You've been looking at it for too long. Now you think everyone plays that way. We'll be back playing football next time out, you'll still be playing that rugby hybrid.

I assure you I am under no delusions as to the type of football Fermanagh plays. I know it better than you do, I also know that Kildare played the same way last night.

Which of us do you think has the reputation for playing that type of stuff? You are I both know it isn't us so put down the paintbrush.

Kildare did not attempt to play football last night. Some of their players should have got straight reds for striking, only managed 11 shots, one point from play. Never mind reputations, which side at not attempt last night tried to play football.

alot of kildare supporters seem salty over last night's performance ..

the only disgrace about last night was fermanagh only winning by 2 points..how can kildare posters be so critical of fermanagh defensively when offensively fermanagh created 20 decent scoring opportunities...and missed two one on one goal chances.

fermanagh fully deserved the win, a great response to last year's exit from the championship.

You are probably the best at what you do, no doubt about. It's a hybrid game. Well done. We're back to playing football next time out.

Fermanagh did indeed fully deserve their win. Kildare knew what was coming and didn't deal with on and off the pitch. Really poor effort from all concerned. We need to look at ourselves as opposed to criticising Fermanagh

You can't play football against that system, I suppose that's how it works sometimes. As for the ref cards? Not a chance. McCormack was naive but nobody else.

I don't care how many scoring chances you may have had last night, but Fermanagh have scored 8pts, 2-5 and 8pts in 3 games. You are happy to call that football and that's your prerogative. However there's not many outside Fermanagh who would.

They probably caught us at our worst last night. Not sure why Hyland was rested given that there's a break coming anyway. We seem to have not learned from the Carlow game last year but maybe it's no harm to expose the young lads to that kind of game. We shouldn't be getting caught out. Fermanagh deserved the win, we need to be better at imposing our own game on nights like last night.

the ultra defensive system has been the downfall of many a Leinster county. (Obviously apart from dubs) well even them at times in past.
Meath have struggled I think more than most against it, Kildare too. I suppose we are two counties that never embraced it to any great extent and also have never quite figured out how to manage it effectively, all I know is that you have to get ahead and make the team defending come out.

The lack of grace in defeat by Kildare posters is embarrassing for your county. It's the ref it's your style of play.. it's just not fair .. take it on the chin and quit the whining .... we will likely see you in Newbridge or nowhere in 2020 in the league ... if you stay up

Perhaps, but Kildare only managed to score 6 points last night. Only managed to create 11 chances, but sure if that's what playing football is i'm glad we don't play like that.

Disgraceful reaction from some kildare posters on here. Just accept Fermanagh were better. It's not like yourselves never had an ultra defensive "anti football" before. Same with most leinster counties actually.

Big win for Fermanagh and I'd love to see them get to division 1.

Kildare are not good. The third or fourth largest county in Ireland in population and you cannot beat small Fermanagh? LOL
