Monaghan V Galway

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Two teams on the back of a defeat after opening round wins. I expect home advantage to get Monaghan over the line. Home advantage has proved to be crucial in Division 1 so far with the home team winning 6 of 8 fixtures played over the two rounds.

Can't see us getting 2 points here. Just praying we get the 4 points needed elsewhere to stay up and get well prepared for the summer.

Agreed. Crippled by injuries, singers on and Corofin commitment. Gas we had a much stronger pick available for the rather meaningless opening FBD game. I just hope we have all available come Mayo as our panel much better than 5yrs ago.

Meant come May. By the sounds of it we will be down a fair few still when we meet them in the league. If Corofin lose the semi final we should have their contingent back for the Kerry game and the rest of the league.

Absolutely lump on Monaghan. McDaid and Kyne ruled out for Galway for the rest of the league. Sean Andy out for a few weeks. Full blown injury crisis on top of the Corofin players missing.

Roscommon with just 4 of their Connacht final team from last summer beat Monaghan and in the last two years Galway have only lost 2 league games and both was against Dublin.

Wow . It's a fair good stat that. Takes a bit of the confidence I had away . But still will put my money on the farney .

If that is the team and not a bad one (although the defence while experienced not near first choice) think 8 others will start (presuming all available and fit) come championship. Liam Silke, Sean Andy, John Daly, Cillain McDaid, Michael Daly, Eamon Brannigan, Ian Burke, Damien Comer. A few will be knocking on the door like Kieran Molloy not to mention Paul Conroy the heartbeat of the squad.

Monaghan will win this.

Weak backline in fairness and full forward line will probably see Darcy interchanging with Flynn in midfield, its another game Walsh would not expect to win but at least a good performance from the replacements.a free week next week and should signal the return of brannigan &comer for the Kerry game be it sub or start.conroy should be close too as has been back running this last three weeks.so just play out the Monaghan match and serious effort for the two home games should see us safe.

5 of that backline has started Connacht finals. Weak or happen to be experienced players that aren't Galway fan favourites?

Brannigan and Comer are not due back anytime soon from what I hear.

Matters little what players did in the past. Who is best now is the question. The unavailable selection would beat the currently available selection 8 times out of 10 I reckon. And handily.

As an An Spidéal man, I am delighted to see Antaine Ó Laoi, get a start. He dominated games for us in the Connacht Intermediate Championship, just hope he is not a dummy selection. He has great skill and speed, though not sure about his strength, but is only 22.

Jaysus, Galway have no interest in winning anything really do they?

27 minutes in, playing with what looks like a stiff breeze and they've one point scored.

Monaghan against the wind are 3 up and cruising, once they get the wind in the second half this could get embarrassing for Galway unless they change it up.

Shane Walsh is having a great game. He is keeping Galway in it.

Galway playing much better now, why didn't they play like this when they had the wind?
