Kerry proved myself wrong today as for others, they were impressive today from what I hear from a few Tyrone lads that travelled down today. Cavan were quite cynical today by the looks of it with the amount of black cards they received; but they played decent from the looks of it. Home advantage could be huge for Cavan here; Kerry will have some confidence from their performance which will be very beneficial for them. I'm going for a hard fought Kerry win here; should be a good enough match. Kerry +2 oakleafersir (Derry) - Posts: 808 - 27/01/2019 20:42:39 2160102 Link 0 |
Great to have some points on the board already which eases a bit of pressure for the trip to Cavan. TheHermit (Kerry) - Posts: 6354 - 28/01/2019 13:45:51 2160390 Link 2 |
I disagree, I think Cavan will win by 3/4 points, one swallow doesn't make a summer.

I'd be hoping for a response and improvement on our Salthill adventures. Hopefully a large home crowd can drive us on a bit but I'm struggling to see where our scores will come from. We're weak at midfield too and don't like when teams run at us. Hope we can keep it tight but cannot see anything other than Kerry +5 and upwards. great first half. some of the best football i seen us play in a while. 2 points in the second half tells it own story. Hard enough to win frees Today from that ref. Our 2 best players taken out of it and nothing done about it.

Brilliant win, was looking fair dodgy there for a while but the kids showed immense heart and fortitude to scrap out a victory. TheHermit (Kerry) - Posts: 6354 - 03/02/2019 20:03:54 2162196 Link 3 |

You wouldn't be suggesting The Aristocrats used "dark arts" and deliberately took out your two best players now would you ? Cause that would be a very foolish statement. We all know the aristocrats of football would never stoop so low. waynoI (Dublin) - Posts: 13650 - 03/02/2019 20:59:17 2162248 Link 5 |
Kerry played with a massed defence against a young Cavan team for 50 minutes and relied on frees from SOS to keep the scoreboard running. The 2 injuries to key Cavan men, resulting from robust tackles, gradually swung the game in their favour. Presenting this as a big win for a team of young lads is a bit much. Ye were fantastic in the first half ye hounded us all over the field a bit like we did with Tyrone last week, ye went in 4 up at half time and only for seanie Shea it could have been a lot more, mcveety was an awful loss to ye looked like he might have popped his shoulder, cian Mackey was great at pulling the strings our bit of experience from the bench won it for us. The ref was frustrating for us as well, when the whistle went neither set of fans really knew which of us were getting the free. Well at least some Dubs still know who the aristocrats are!! Money can't buy you boys everything :D We'll see how nice Dublin are in Tralee next Saturday ... TheHermit (Kerry) - Posts: 6354 - 03/02/2019 21:58:14 2162290 Link 4 |
While I understand the frustration that's a bit harsh. Cavan played all the football in the first half and the injuries were a factor but the Kerry subs had a big impact and we pushed up after sitting back initially. Even when down to 14 Kerry controlled the game. I take it you are insinuating that the injuries were deliberate, only the players involved will know, I hope not. wow.. erm... Cavan shot themselves in the foot today by not playing with the openness that they played with in the first half. Kerry did slightly change their setup in the second half but if you think the kids showed emmense heart and fortitude you sadly mistaken. Cavan loosing 2 key played and in turn Kerry emptying the bench to bring on the old reliables is what won the game. Keery did grab the game by the scruff of the neck in the final quarter and if Cavan are to learn anything its that. Kerry were savage poor and i didn't see anything there today to remotely trouble the Dubs. Anyhow its only February. Ref was poor but it was the same for both teams and someone mentioned earlier in that you wern't sure which way we he was going to point. ponger (Cavan) - Posts: 540 - 03/02/2019 22:44:03 2162318 Link 1 |
It is nice to be recognized the hermit :-) and like you say let's see what the dubs bring to Tralee next Saturday night, I'm sure Gavin will want to lay down a big marker and keep the boot on our throats literally :-0 I was talking to a lad in Cavan today who saw the dubs game last night and he reckons dubs are at championship pace already, how do they keep that up all year around? They're like they're gone professional or something. KingdomBoy1 (Kerry) - Posts: 14092 - 03/02/2019 23:01:50 2162330 Link 1 |
Whatever you think yourself lad, I'm just delighted a young Kerry team has two wins from two games and was able to go up to a tough place like Breffini and get a result. Confidence and momentum are huge at this stage. Dublin might prove too strong next Saturday but one thing I do know is that Kerry will put in a performance. Sean O Shea 12 points is that not heart or fortitude? Really? Tom O Sullivan, Brian Begley also did very well. Kerry travelled with a young team missing plenty of players and got a result on a horrible day for football. Nothing is won in February but Cavan are surely staring division 2 in the face again. westkerry (Kerry) - Posts: 1250 - 04/02/2019 06:51:59 2162359 Link 5 |
The turnovers by Brian o'beaglaoich and Tom o'sullivan In second half were savage westkerry and they were very composed for young lads. SOS 12 point haul for a 20 year old was unreal . KingdomBoy1 (Kerry) - Posts: 14092 - 04/02/2019 09:39:07 2162386 Link 1 |
Don't you mean a young Kerry team?
