There's new topics for each of the other three levels. So why not one for the basement? Who's joining us in Division 3 next year?

I hope to see yourselves and I'd like to see our neighbors Leitrim and them been managed and trained by two good cavan men.

Derry have to be hot favourites to walk back up.
Next I see Antrim, Wexford and Leitrim vying for second place in that order.
Limerick, Waterford and London in no order could upset any of the above 3 but won't be promoted probably.
You often get some strange results in DIv 4. Such as a team second last beating a team in second.

Leitrim usually flop when promotion is on the cards and then have one big game in them where they shock someone when its no good to them and the pressure is off. Theres a bit of a buzz in the county as Terry Hyland is an outside man and won't put up with the usual Leitrim squabbling plus hes got the best players on the club scene to commit. The average age of the team is very young with a lot of talented players who are raw but show occasional glimpses that they are better than Div 4. I've been hopefull for them for the last 2 years and told my father I see glimpses of talent there but he laughed and said they were useless and will always be. This year might prove him wrong but I wouldn't bank on it!!!

I do think that the winners of the opening game between Leitrim and Wexford in Carrick-On-Shannon will join Derry in division 3 next year. That game is massive for both teams. Derry are surely a step ahead of the other teams in Division 4 this year you would have to think

Lets take the counties with the strongest club football and you would have to pick Derry and Antrim, so thats why I'd class them as favourites to go up.

I also forgot to mention Wicklow who finished last in Div 4 last year. They had a terrible campaign last year but went to Belfast and drew with Antrim who were battling with Carlow for second spot.

I agree that Leitrim have to beat Wexford but also Antrim at home is another crucial crunch one.
Wicklow and Limerick away are winnable but either could turn us over I reckon.

Wicklow have convinced some key players not to retire, James Stafford and others such as Conor McGraynor and Anthony McLoughlin to return to the fold. We also have some good young players coming through off a good minor side. We won't get promoted, but we will destroy someone's hopes.

Derry i think are certs to top the table.

Then you have Leitrim, Wexford and Antrim and possibly wicklow vying for second place.

I was really down on our chances this year but having seen us against meath in the o'byrne cup (i know i know) i am a tad more optimistic add in the fact waters, Malone and o'grady are back is huge for us.

The first game will tell how the league will go for us.

Last year we won one game all year and that was against an Armagh c team. But flip side is we lost to laois in extra time in first round of the championship having opted to take a point at the end of full time from a penalty.

So basically i havent a fudging clue what to expect from us.

Derry should be winning every game in this. Second place is there for the taking. Possibly Wexford to bounce back up with the likes of Daithi Waters and Brian Malone back.

You'd imagine Derry will be promoted but the Oak Leafers are a very peculiar county and committing to playing for the county team seems to be the big problem for the red and white.

Wexford another team who were relegated last season, shoots of hope have emerged in the preseason and on last years championship performance v Laois are strong contenders, however they can implode too as was aseen when Waterford came to Wexford Park last year and after ten minutes Wexford were a beaten docket.

Leitrim always contenders but for some reason never finish the job and on two occassions previously their opening game defeat to Wexford cost them dearly.

London are playing well under Deely by the end of every season but normally takes them two or three games to get motoring and in that time their chances normally evaporate.

Wicklow another team who on their day in Division 4 can beat anyone in this Division, unlikely to get promoted but Wicklow could beat Derry, Wexford and Leitrim and destroy their own ambitions

Limerick a team who seem really at the bottom of their game at the minute. Their manager did make a stand last year about football in the county so I would hope tat it might stir the fire in the players

Waterford under new management so likely to have a positive reaction there. Big championship win v Wexford last year gave them a taste of the limelight might provoke a charge for promotion

Antrim the dark horses in this Division. Could easily be promoted a big test for them will be round two where both themselves and Wexford will be fighting to stay in the promotion picture.

Prediciton 1st Place and Division 4 Winners Derry, second place Wexford probably my heart taking over my head for that. Leitrim and Antrim to be within a whisker of promotion also. I don't see any team going through the campaign unbeaten. so five wins could be enough for promotion.

I think that line sums us all up in Div4!!!

I once heard an Antrim man say the only certain thing about Antrim football is there is no certainty!!

Isn't that the fun of it? The hope it's going to get better... every year i promise myself not this year buddy no sir I ain't doing it to myself... And there I was yesterday with my fiance telling her you know if we win the first one we could go on run and then you never know.

Didn't help she looked at me as if I was mental. To hell with it. It's basically Christmas eve for G.A.A fans. Wexford to win every football match this year and win Sam. :)

Great second half performance from leitrim to beat wexford a long way to go but early signs are promising for this young team.

Arguably the result of the day. Not that surprised though as they gave us our fill of it for the first half of our championship meeting last year, with a bit of belief they could have a good year

We scraped past Antrim but that's 1 game down and 2 points on the board. Glad we have Leitrim at home as they seem to be going well.

First half Leitrim youngsters were bouncing the ball into muck where the ball would stick spppplat...., then giving silly balls away with silly passes. Wexford using the mark well. Leitrim looking bedazzled at them wondering how do you stop this oul mark craic. Half time it looked dodgy.
Second half Leitrim score a penalty, proceed to run riot and kick points from all angles. Thats them for ya!

I've watched my fair share of rhubarb in Div 4 so yesterday was one of the good days.
A week is a long time in Division 4 though. Back to the drawing board for next Sunday away to Wicklow.

Two big games this week Antrim away to Wexford is a must win for both in particular Wexford as they would still have to face Derry while Antrim have played them already. Then Wicklow Vs Leitrim is a real 50/50 game the winner puts themselves in with a great chance of promotion though and momentum is crucial. Derry should see off London and it's hard to call Waterford Vs Limerick home advantage for Limerick might see them through.

London/Derry - Derry, should be a no contest but then again I thought that about last weekend too
Limerick/Waterford - Limerick
Wexford/Antrim - will be close and you would think home advantage will be pivotal but will go with Antrim all the same
Wicklow/Leitrim - Leitrim to continue their winning start
