Replying To Fairplayalways:  "Do Offaly deserve to stay up?..the played well in some games and didn't see them out, I am thinking, Westmeath and Louth in particular...Carlow did well at the start and in fairness, haven't been hammered by any team, on a head to head if it comes to it Offaly will survive if Carlow get no result against Laois (and of course if Offfaly beat Sligo!!)...how will those games pan out will be very interesting...Laois need a win to keep interest too.."
I'm still scratching my head and how the hell Offaly did not beat Louth. That was some bizarre match.

So am I Ollie. Two extra men for 10 minutes, and wind up losing to an own goal.

Congratulations to whoever wrote the article on predictions on the mainpage and said that Laois are promoted if they beat Carlow by more than 3 points, it's quite an achievement to be that lazy to not even check the table. If Down win on Sunday, they are promoted, and if Westmeath win their remaining games, they are promoted.

They also said that Armagh have an outside chance of getting promoted but they cannot go up. Are you heading up to Newry?

Allianz FL Division 2 round 7

Armagh v Cork, Athletic Grounds, 2pm

Cork make the long trip north needing a win in order to have any chance at survival against an Armagh side which are the only team in Division 2 with nothing to play for.

The Rebels revealed their hand early and it shows ace attacker Sean Powter starting his first game of the season as Ronan McCarthy's team look to avoid the dreaded drop down to Division 3.

Armagh dominated for long portions against Fermanagh the last day and will be confident welcoming the Leesiders to the Athletic Grounds this weekend.

Verdict: Armagh

^^
I don't see wrong with that? The Irish News had their permutations wrong this week when they reported Armagh were still in with a chance.

Down, Draw between Laois and Carlow, Westmeath and Sligo win. This would put Down and Westmeath up & no need for the Louth Westmeath match.

A Westmeath win or draw vs Louth promotes them, a Louth win sends them up. Laois up no matter the result?

Really disappointed. We go straight back down despite being competitive in all games.
No point in excuses .

I believe a draw between Louth and Westmeath would enable Down & Westmeath to be promoted

Correct.

What a result for Louth today. Down must be kicking themselves after that result today. Louth v Westmeath is next Saturday in Drogheda so the D3 final has been pushed out by a week. Tough on Carlow to go down after losing a few very tight games. But credit to Offaly for digging out a 1 point win in Sligo in injury time. I think Niall McNamee got 1:3 today so credit to him for keeping Offaly up.

It won't as they are behind leix and Westmeath on points difference.

Cruel on Carlow today to go down on 5 points.

Any one at the Carlow game today shed some light, reports of unsavory scenes at the end

as an Offaly man I am delighted we pulled it off today, but I can see why Carlow will feel agrieved, like Offaly they were competitive in all their matches and werent hammered in any game I think...I suppose someone had to go down with Sligo...Offaly played well in the league and left 2/3 games behind them...but such is life and sport...hope Carlow keep the heads up now and they will be very strong in Div 4 next season....

Was at the Laois vs Carlow match didn't see anything going on at the end, few clashes throughout but nothing unsavory. Sry see Carlow go down, might be wrong but is this the third year in a row Offaly stayed up by winning on the last day?

Saw a bit of hassle with a Laois supporter giving the Carlow bench stick with about 5 minutes to go buy stewards were quick to deal with him.

Laois were the better team today. Donie Kingston is almost unmarkable with the Mark in place.
