Meath have a poor record in Ulster in both league and the Championship. If it was in Navan I would go for the Royals. The last time Meath played in Donegal they should of beating them which cost the Meath men promotion.

I think that was 2014, and while it was a draw, I thought that was largely because Jim McGuinness used the initial 15-20 minutes of the first half to try out different kick-outs and different formations, with one eye on Ulster Championship.

Oh Ollie don't remind me. Had game in total control, got a sideline ball with time up, Shane O'Rourke took his time but not to any great extent ref blows up for time wasting, throws ball up , then we get ball ref blows for a donegal free which Murphy pointed match over a draw. Cost us promotion, let's just say the ref went native

For a man who says he never complains about referees you seem to say an awful lot of things about referees that sound a lot like complaining!

Complaining and stating facts are two different things. :)

Donegal 4
Kildare 3
Meath 2
Armagh 2
Fermanagh 2
Cork 1
Clare 1
Tipperary 1

All ready a tight league, Donegal now look certs for promotion while every other team will feel they have a decent chance of finishing second, making predictions will be tricky but I think relegation will be between Tipperary Clare and cork and promotion will be Donegal and possibly meath and kildare, armagh and fermanagh to finish mid table, hon the royals

Fermanagh v kildare I'm calling this a draw fermanagh at home is a tough fixture for any team

Meath v armagh huge game for both as the winner here would feel they could win promotion I'm going for meath by three points

Clare v cork cork are looking poor enough so far and could struggle in Ennis, Clare by two

Tipperary v Donegal Donegal to win here and to put themselves in the promotion driving seat

Kildare showing a lot of character so far. Not playing great & missing a lot of players but still 3 points out of 4. A win in Fermanagh & we would be in a strong position. Hopefully the 2 week break then will be enough to get some big players back for the last 4 games.

Think meath v kildare will be the decider. Meath should be beating armagh minus jamie clarke

Showed a bit of character as well as some resolute defending when down to 14 men. This was the sort of game Kildare lost last season.

I always felt Meath v kildare in week 5 was going to be a massive game . Kildare wud be in hunt for promotion by then and Meath wud also or cud be in relegtion dogfight.

It looks like Donegal will win the group and deservedly so. With kildare in pole position and favourites and desevedly so. Kildare seem to be winning not playing great but winning all the same. Thats a very good sign for kildare. Under 20 players r very talented bunch. Kildare need to build their senior team around that group , as for me that was one of the great underage All Ireland wins by any leinster county ever in the way they hammered Dublin and beat kerry and Mayo.

The rest Meath Armagh Tipp Cork Clare Fermanagh any one could challenge kildare for second spot and any team could get relegated. Cork look in serious bother but they will take points off teams. Clare will be hard to beat in Ennis Tipp will hard to beat in Thurles and Fermanagh with their organised defence will be hard to beat anywhere. Again div 2 is very hard to predict who will survive. Tipp when they Quilvan back will be difficult to beat. While Clare have shrewd manager and have mastered staying in div 2 in last few years. I cannot see them going down. And no one will look forward to playing Rory Gallaghers well organised Fermanagh. Armagh and Meath r inconsistent but capable of winning games in divsion and cud mount a promotion challenge. While Cork r not in a good place they do have as allot of footballers who can turn on a big performance.

Meath v Armagh game is a massive 6 pointer. Whoever wins cud be kildares main challenger for promotion whoever loses cud end up relegation dogfight. I dont know where young Meath players heads will be after Saturday. They played for 60 mins a high quality efficent direct style of football. It was really good to see a Meath play like that rather then in fits and starts. We cud beat both Cork and Armagh we cud lose to both. I dont know. I am biased anyway. But Armagh are well drilled powerful and very fit. And McGeeney has very good record v Meath. I would say in 8 or 9 games managing teams v Meath he has only lost once. It should be close and tight game. And Cork dont look as promotion candidates but as the campaign goes I expect them to take points of team if they r in trouble of going down.

Then u have Meath v kildare game which has all the makings of a cracking game. They usually r. last few games have been a bit one sided. The victories over Meath in 2017 by kildare were impressive and comprehensive. The same way Meath victories over kildare in 2012 and 2014 were for Meath. There was a league game in between when J Ryan was kildare manager , which Meath won which was awful game. U probably have to go back to 2011 in a cracking game in Navan between both counties when Bolton got a great winner for lilies. There was a couple of years in McGeeney were there some cracking Meath v kildare games. We havent had one in a while. I think we r due one. Im looking forward to that game. It will interesting to see if Meath have closed thr gap with kildare. I expect it to be closer but kildare will favourites to win by couple of points. Kildare are ahead of us at the moment. I have gut feeling in next decade we will see some cracking Meath v kildare games as both counties are producing some good young underage footballers coming thru.

Anyway after 2 weeks other then Donegal top the division. Everything else is clear as mud in the division. It will go down to the wire. It is the best and most exciting division. Because everyone wants to get into div 1 and no one want to go down to div 3.

Looking forward to the Meath v Kildare game in Navan, Furlong 1949.Huge crowd will be there. Neither of us at the moment as we are all too well aware are capable of beating Dublin but I have no doubt that both Meath and Kildare are potentially capable of doing so more than any other Leinster teams The biggest rivalry in Leinster now is Meath and Kildare. Between us we can make Leinster competitive again. It will be a championship encounter in Navan. The Dublin juggernaut won't last forever and one or both will oust Dublin.

No mention at all of div 2 on tv last night, cursory nods to 3 and 4. Poor show from RTE. There's 24 counties with interest outside of div 1.

I agree lilywhite1 , it is the best rivalry in leinster at the moment . It all began with those 3 extraordinary game 22 years ago ( especially 2nd game the game of the decade) , and has been a cracking rivalry since. I believe in the next 10 or 20 years go it will go up a level of a rivalry as I believe both counties will have more frequent underage sucess. We have both responded to Dublin sucess at underage in a positive manner. And even last year both counties went up a level in terms of organisation preparation and numbers on the ground in underage coaching. Before this both counties were doing well at underage , Meath at minor and u guys at Under 20.

As I said that Under 20 kildare winning team that team , kildare can build a future sucessful team around what those young lads did last year. I remeber eating my tea watching the hammering u gave Dublin in the Under 20 leinster final. It was a sight to behold. Victories like that are so important for a counties future development. Yes we can make leinster football great again. Yes we can. A competive Kildare v Dublin and Meath v Dublin is a guranteed 80000 sell out leinster final. Hopefully does days are just around the corner for both teams.

Game in Navan will be fascinating and should be very good game. If we can win our next two games and I expect kildare will win both theirs , the game in Navan would be a massive six pointer. Im looking forward to seen Hyland in the flesh. We will have young lad from Summerhill who will marking him. And u know those Summerhill lads up at the Meath kildare border they always up their game for the kildare lads. Anyway looking forward to it already it could one of the games in this spring in division 2.

3 points so far can't be anything but pleased by that.

Strong comeback against Armagh after they pulled 4 or 5 ahead with 10 minutes left, and again against Cork when they came back to level it after Conway had gone off. Kept the heads and managed to grind out results in tough circumstances - different standard of opposition but those are the types of games we were losing narrowly this time last year.

A win against Fermanagh would pretty much guarantee safety at least, mightn't be too bad a thing spending another year in division 2 and giving the under 20's a chance to establish themselves this level.
