Good first half. Second half poor enough. Dubh_linn (Dublin) - Posts: 2312 - 12/01/2019 20:53:44 2156757 Link 1 |
Entertaining enough game. Meath in fairness kicked it away with the unbelievable misses. And that is something to work on for Andy before the business begins v tipp. Well done to the young dubs. I really enjoyed myself, not so sure about the old penalty kicks to decide a game though. And clearly by our efforts it's something we haven't practiced. Again well done to Dublin. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 12/01/2019 20:59:38 2156758 Link 2 |

meath had a very strong team out, i know its early in the season and you dont really take these comps too serious, but considering that crop of Dublin guys are only back training a few weeks, while their current all Ireland winning panel have been arriving back in the country over the last few days after a trip to the caribbean (the manager tonight paul clarke also having been out there) little time to prepare, no competitive games in the legs and also a load of new rules to get used to, while meath have been back training a while and have a few games and decent wins under their belt including against dublin a few weeks ago, i think its a bit... i dont know, disconcerting that they didnt win this game comfortably especially last 10 when Dublin players where dropping like flies with cramp. Bewildering that Andy Bunyan (dublin gk) was stretching out struggling with cramp for about 15 20 mins? waynoI (Dublin) - Posts: 13650 - 12/01/2019 22:53:49 2156783 Link 3 |
A good competitive game jimbodub (Dublin) - Posts: 20600 - 13/01/2019 06:35:56 2156803 Link 2 |
Ahh we were chopping and changing all the time including in position. Your own clubman came on as a blood sub scored a goal and a point then taken back off until second half , it was a useful exercise and one that hopefully will have settled the starting team come tipp game. Andy is a extremely passionate man, and trust me imo it's beter that he gets animated rather than standing there motionless with his arms folded. Again well done to Dublin,

i know you where RD. But even if youve been chopping and changing youve still been back training about 8 weeks, had alot more preperation under your belts, more than half your first team together and the guy that came on and scored 1-1 is the same guy that you keep saying is this brilliant, super footballer that would get in most teams starting xvs its not like you brought on someone who has never played. We put a team together who for the most part never played with each other, had no competitive games under their belts, and played in the new rules environment for the first time, youve the advantage in that you played 3 ganes before tonight with those rules against laois longford and wexford. You didnt address any of those points except for saying yous chopped and changed a bit. look, alls im saying is i expected Meath to win comfortably, and its worrying from a meath pov that you got a lead against that dublin team in the first half and allowed us back in. Everything was in your favour and you still couldnt get the win. Your manager came out after a charity game saying beating us would give Meath confidence, so it obviously felt it had some relevanve 4 weeks ago. it on your manager, dont care if he is a very passionate man keep your passion off the pitch unless your playing. He has no business whatsoever being out there. He lost his head last night and meath players lost theirs. (4 or 5 yellows, a black, 2 frees being thrown up for dissent) and this was only an obc game. waynoI (Dublin) - Posts: 13650 - 13/01/2019 10:56:32 2156822 Link 4 |

I'm passionate Won't see me running into the field of play though, just cause you're a manager doesn't mean it's okay.. waynoI (Dublin) - Posts: 13650 - 13/01/2019 13:01:38 2156844 Link 5 |
We'll hopefully get to hammer Meath later this year. Westmeath and Longford have denied us Dubs fan a good laugh jimbodub (Dublin) - Posts: 20600 - 13/01/2019 13:21:32 2156849 Link 1 |
Shows the passion of all the players. Actually didn't expect Meath to win last night, hope obviously, but I think most would have expected us to be competitive, and I said this previously to game. A drawn match with so many missed chances is good performance for the way we were playing, iron out those missed chances and let me tell you we will be a difficult team to beat. Also a settled team. The passion and playing on the edge is something that has been missing from Meath players for a long time. The days of just showing up are over, we here to compete and with fire , determination and aggression at every level.
