2019 Attendances

How do we all see the double headers at Croker this weekend doing in terms of attendance. I'd say 50000 on saturday and 40000 on sunday. Perhaps a bit optimistic.

I can see possibly a bigger attendance on Sunday

They are nowhere near selling out the lower tier for saturday and we are only 1 day away. For Sunday the lower tier is closer to selling out and the upper cusack looks quite full considering the sections they're selling. The difference in the actual attendance won't be as big as the hill for the Dublin match will have 6/7k more on it compared to Sunday.

More will be in attendance on Sunday I'd say. Meath will bring fair few as there is hype around the game with it been mayo and a general belief that we can beat them, Mayo are the best supported county in ire outside dubs, and it's a do or die game for both. Donegal will bring a huge crowd and I feel after last week so will Kerry.

If there was 30,000 in Croke Park last Saturday for Dublin/Cork you'd expect the addition of Tyrone and Roscommon, to a lesser degree, to bump this Saturday's attendance well over 40,000.
50,000 max on Sunday.

36,000 the attendance between the 4 teams. Tragic. Our football has become the Scottish league only worse.

After seeing that attendance tomorrow won't be much better. Interest has waned unfortunately. At least we won't be left with a full set of dead rubbers in final weekend irrespective who wins between Mayo and Meath.

Lower hogan, cusack and upper cusack sold out. Looks like the lower Davin is too. You'd expect 40k+. Not bad considering it's an away match for all 4 teams. A long away match too for 3 of them.

48,500 in Croker today. So remember the GAA needed a strong Dublin to boost attendances and keep them high? Look how that amateur plan worked out. Delighted a bigger crowd turned up in DUBLIN today.

Just shows you how little interest inter County garners in the capital since the dominance began. Next year Dublin crowds will be even lower. The scene is on it's knees and ironically the answer is lowering dublin's funds and let them fund their coaches themselves and redistribute it to the pack. It will take 20 years if it starts now and before anyone says it giving 500k a year to be shared by Meath, Louth, Kildare and Wicklow is nowhere near enough.

36k on Saturday should be a real eye-opener for the Association.
Healthy attendance on Sunday considering the distance for three of the teams involved.

Dont see beef to be honest, say it was Dublin and Mayo on the ticket yesterday we all know it would have been 60k. If anything Dublin and Mayo supporters were carrying both fixtures. They have massive supports. Roscommon have a small population, Cork were in Corker three weeks on the trot and as we the whole popluation of Tyrone wouldnt have an interest in Gaelic games. Dublin were carrying that fixture on Saturday. Id say the GAA are delighted myself. What was the attendances with the stand alone games last week?

Its evident watching the games, the second game was fuller then first and yesterday, Corke Park looked empty for the second game.

Its also worth mentioning id say a good few Dubs went up yesterday as neutrals, my better half had skin in the game yesterday so i wandered up. I saw a good few of our usual heads up there.

It is a completely different stadium without Dublin in it if im being honest, its weird how a place can change so much n 24 hours.

Saturday evening was the worst atmosphere I ever encountered in Croke Park. That includes league games and round 4 games. If it is going to be 2/3 empty at least bunch what fans there are together.

I was delighted to see 12k more on the Sunday. If there was ever proof the GAA actually don't need a strong Dublin it was that.

There's no novelty for the top county players playing in Croke Park anymore, top teams like Mayo, Kerry Tyrone etc could play there five times a year feasibly. Who wants to play in an empty park and risking injury all the time by slipping on the terrible surface.

Its weird to explain unless you to go to Dublin games, it just feels like a home game. Yesterday had a bit of a day trip feel to it, Mayo to be fair to them no the score.

I can understand the Tyrone lads saying it was a poor atmosphere, i didnt go into there game but in for our warm up, place was fairly empty, but Drumcondra and around was milling up and down the royal lads were out in the sunshine having a few bottles and enjoying the warm weather, thats the buzz.

Then when our game is on you talk about attendances but also the ration of attendances, id say 90% at the game on Saturday were Dubs, to be fair the Rossies and Tyrone had to travel but you would be looking hard for a jersey on the concourse during our game. The lower Cusack and Hill is thronged because that were our second tickets are and there is a sense of community, you bump in people you know year or catch at league games and its all part of it.

It can be as full, or fuller but the crowd is migrant, scatterd, unsure and the minority stay for both games.

The only ones who make a real fist of it in my opinion is Mayo, they can take us to a 50/50 split.

I wouldn't be worried about the attendances, in dead rubbers we are taking up 30k plus, we are holding up the weak side of the draw with little sense of competition or draw. There isnt a county other then Dublin who can do that, Mayo would run us close and how well the GAA and i f your being honest you all know it.

It feels like a home game because, let's face it, Croke Park is Dublin's home ground!

Mayo's support is phenomenal, yes.

Dublin have a core of maybe 20k fans, most likely much less than that. The rest being families out for the day, occasional fans, etc (which all counties have).

So 2 points here -

1. 20k from a population of ~1.5million isn't great at all

2. The general theme around falling attendances isn't a slight on Dublin attendances, it's the glaringly obvious disinterest so many other counties now have because they see an uneven playing field.

I agree i would wholly acknowledge Croke Park is Dublins home ground, your not separating Dublin from Croke Park and vice versa.

Id say 30k myself comfortably for a home game and 20k for an away.

I agree should be far more, the lack of drama is one thing we are just too good. I think the GAA do an awful lot to keep Dublin fans away from games myself, we have about 15k season ticket holders i think, 10 k GAA and 5 PP holders, they have been sold out since the early teens.

If you put 20k -30k season tickets up for sale over night they would be gone over by 12 pm tomorrow. The fact that avenue is closed means people attending games doesnt count, so people have a choice to make about attending dead rubbers etc with as much chance of getting a ticket for a final if they ended dead rubbers or not.

We are entering the first week in August and we haven't had a competitive game yet, its not great entertainment, people are saying Dubs are getting board watching Dublin anything but, we are getting board watching teams of a very poor standard, its a real labour of love, with little drama and only with Dublin being so good is it bearable and good to watch is it bearable, hopefully the Tyrone game might prove our first real test this year.

Lower Dublin attendances arent due to us being so good, they are down to the poor standard we have to play and the zero dram of it all in my opinion.

You just have to look for what passed as a Leinster final, it was pathetic stuff.

GAA need to take the Dubs out of Croke park more. They have paid for the stadium so why not just use it for the semis. Also super 8's could be played in Provincial grounds too.
