Wouldn't know much about Jack Robinson to be honest with you a chara. Where does he play? Did he take a year off? We've been no slouches at U21/20 this era and we had a decent team last year, but we were absolutely mauled by Kildare, they were one of the best U21/20s teams ive seen at that level. Impressed with Odhran McFadden Ferry as I hadn't heard of him before, has he played any senior county matches yet? I'm hearing that Niall O Donnell and Oisin Gallen are very young lads with great potential , hope they remain injury free. Eoin McHugh must be approaching mid 20s by now, wonder how he will do after taking a year out. In today's game players are expected to break through defensive screens and impede the progress of other players running towards you at full tilt. Coaches seem reluctant to include more than one or two light pacey players in a team. Ryan McHugh is in pole position for players of this stature in the Donegal panel with the ideal mix of pace, skill, intelligence, bravery and scoring ability.

No but McFadden Ferry was with the underage teams. He was with the Donegal U-20's last year who were a very talented group but got beat by a very good Derry team on the day where Donegal underperformed probably believing their own hype a little bit I suspect. He was also part of the minor group in 2016. I imagine he would also have been a prominent member of what would have been an exceptional Donegal U-21 team last year were it not for the grade to be wrongfully scrapped. He joined the army and physically he has transformed the last year or so. I think he might be the man to come in and allow Ban Gallagher to push on up to half back line. As you seen with Gweedore despite his youth he is in no way daunted by taking on and marking the opponents most dangerous players. As for O'Donnell and Gallen I iamgine Gallen will definitely be with the U-20's this year. He will be involved with the senior set up for training etc but I think with the glut of talent present and coming through that players still U-20 will stay there. Niall O'Donnell is a special player but still very young. Physically he has come on alot but is still developing in that regard which is important as being a special talent he will be targeted. He has it all but might just need another year or 2 till really flourishing. The early signs for Eoin McHugh are positive. Physically he looks a different man and has obviously done an awful lot of gym work. He has started as a wing back but I am not sure how this will suit looking forward. Jack played minor 2016 and would have been on the u20 winning team had he not gone traveling. Seemed a cert for senior call up but hasn't happened. Was at that game v Dublin which was one of their more comprehensive wins. Have to say though I've seen better u20/21 Dublin teams in the preceding years. Nobody seems to know why he hasn't joined the seniors. I was talking to a well known ex player involved with him at underage who expected him to be called to senior panel ahead of most others. Can only assume Jack couldn't commit.

Wing/Corner forward, one of the stars of the 2016 minor team, as good a shooter as Hyland in my opinion, travelled last summer so wasn't part of the u20 team. Flynn will undoubtedly be missed but I'll not begrudge a man for taking a year out from a voluntary cause, the players are humans too, and there is great talent coming through the forward ranks

Dalton or Flynn for Cork. Maher for Kilkenny if he has a bit of luck with injuries for a change. Monahan or Concannon for Galway. Morris or Browne for Tipp. Waterford could have plenty: Lyons, Foran, Ryan etc. Dunbar for Wexford. I am missing loads, but that is a few of the top of my head. There are a number of promising young forwards coming up in the Monaghan set up at the moment - Barry McGinn, Michel Bannigan, David Garland, Stephen O'Hanlon.
