What is everyone predictions for the competition this year?
Jordanstown is looking very strong at the minute, while Tyrone has only started training the last few weeks. Always a good indicator of how teams will perform in the league by there McKenna cup performance

I always thought January was the perfect month for this competition in the run up to the league and university cups. I would fancy Donegal to retain the cup as I expect they may wish to be ready to make a big push to get out of Division 2.

I'd imagine Donegal will go fairly experimental again with a lot of younger players involved. I'd expect to see the likes of Jason McGee, Eoghan McHugh, Peadar Mogan etc get a good bit of game time.

For me Derry will get out of the group and what ever happens from there on happens; we finally have the talented youth that have came up from Minor and U-21 in the squad and the Sleachtneil contingent back for the whole year which is a huge boost plus a few old faces that left for traveling and work commitments back also which is more than great. A few of our players are playing for their collages but this gives a great opportunity for new faces to get a chance. Think and Hope that Tyrone don't win it again this year, for me it's Monaghan winning it this year.

I'm glad to hear Derry have players back and are confident, I hope Derry win division 4 an

Yes but Tyrone won it from 2012 to 2017, still a long winning run I don't want to see again; Donegal deserved to win it last year all the same but I feel a new winner would put more of an importance in the competition.

That's it though, It's not a real competition unless all the teams treat it like one. The Uni teams are using it to sharpen themselves a bit more for Sigerson and the county teams use it like glorified challenge games. Teams only really take it a bit more serious if they make the final but not winning the Mc Kenna Cup won't disappoint too many managers as long as they find a player or two to take into the league.

Nothing wrong in using the competition in this way but I feel it's unfair on County Players to be playing it prior to Christmas as they always had a bit of a break until the new year and now that has been taken away from them.
