Absolutely made up for Mullinalaghta, what a story this is. It's times like this when you remember how special the club is.

Replying To gaelicgab:  "The Leinster club SFC final between Mullinalaghta and Kilmacud Crokes on Sunday 9 December is being billed as a 'David and Goliath' clash.

Mullinalaghta, a small parish in north Longford with about 400 people and half of it is Gowna, Co. Cavan versus a Dublin club with a membership of over 4,800 making it one of Ireland's largest GAA clubs.

Can the men from Mullinalaghta slay the Dublin giants?"
Well just put Crokes membership in some context of that 4,800 you quote at least half of that are women so now we down to 2,400. Allow for social members so now you down to say 1,800. Of that you have to allow for hurlers so now its down to say 1100 and then of course you can exclude the nursery and all the kids as well, so Crokes are still picking from how many adult footballers? But still a great achievement and well done.

Congratulations to Mullinalaghta

Amazing scenes.

What can you say ? Rathnew from Wicklow last year dumped out St Vincents, This year a team from North Longford deservedly beat Crokes against all odds. Unbelievable stuff. Couldn't be happier for them.

What they showed today and what Rathnew showed last year is that giants can be not only be rattled but they can be bloody beaten.

They where unbackable today, Just look at the Mullinalaghta manager there in his after game comments, even he is shell shocked, but what this all proves is that big teams CAN be beaten if you as a team go out and believe in yourself and are willing to die for the cause.

15 v 15 start a game, Euro notes and anyone outside of the two teams can impact what happens in a given 60 or 70 minutes, If you where to put these two clubs side by side in terms of membership, area size, population, funding, you would say they don't belong on a pitch together, but then you get results like this and it shows for all the bullshit talk about advantages and money, they don't trump hard work and passion.

So for everyone out there who believes Dublin cant be beaten or knocked off their throne, We absolutely can. If you just have a bit of belief there is no reason why the intercounty game cant be as competitive, There is no reason why a Longford cant at least challenge Dublin, Or why a Wicklow cant compete.

Crokes players today where human, Dublins players are human. We are for my money the best Gaelic football team of all time, but come on, have a go, try beat us. Stop showing us too much respect. If Mullinalaghta can beat Kilmacud Crokes, If Rathnew can beat Vincents, When will It sink in that EVERY team at the pinnacle of every sport can and will be beaten eventually.

Tonight, David has won. And they bloody deserved it.

From a purely Dublin point of view, Couldn't be happier that Mannion and O'Sullivan will have a nice break now before coming back next year for the Dubs as we go for 5 in a row, That's all I care about, Wasn't fussed about Crokes today just tuned in to see how itd go but was delighted for Mullinalaghta but serious questions have to be asked about Vincents and Crokes mentality going into these games.

Enjoy it boys.

That's true..

But you also have to remember to do the same when looking at Mullinalaghta

Take their membership, take the women out, take the social members out, take the hurlers out whatever that number be, take the kids and babies out and Mullinalaghta are probably lucky to field a team lol

So let's do same with mullaghnata. Half are women so that's down to 200. Take away the juvenile another 100 say. Now down to 100, take away those who only are members for social etc and who are inactive members, brings u down to about 50. Also add that at least 20 would be oaps so now down to 30, also add their 2 county players in New York. Brings it down to 28 or in other words barely a panel. Delighted, look I'd cheer on isis against any dubs team, but I know this area quite well as a former client of mine lived there. They football mad. Makes it extra special. Xmas came early for a lot of people not near this parish.

The 2016 Census recorded a population of 305 in Mullinalaghta. Longford GAA records the local club, St Columba's, membership at 155 - of which 114 are adults.

Fantastic win for the parish , was nervous for them with the ease they conceded the first goal , they really gathered and regrouped which shows serious steel , romance is alive in GAA club land love to see them go the whole way now

Superb stuff, the better team throughout for me.

Well done to all involved and no harm seeing Kilmacud beaten too.

Fair play to Mullinalaghta!

I don't think the win by Mullinalaghta was all that great to be honest it was a smash and grab.
Similar to when Offally beat Kerry in 82.
Or when Dublin beat Kerry in 11
I was far more impressed by Rathnew beating Vincents last year for example. That was a well deserved win.
This win was just a fortunate one.
You would swear it is the first time ever a small country team beat the city slickers the way the papers are going on.
You can only play 15 players at any one time.
Fair play to Mullinalaghta and all that.
But it was a fortunate win.
I hope they beat Dr Crokes and get into the final (prove it was not a fluke)- because then thier name will be always on that list in years to come.

You are maybe missing the point a bit here. Context is everything when looking at this result. If you have a spare afternoon over the Christmas, take a spin up to Mullinalaghta for yourself.
Stand on their pitch and take a look around. You might begin to understand.
