Replying To farneygael:  "So your saying play out the league first then run the championship in the good summer months ?? Spring and early summer would be mad with fixtures I'd imagine .
A league and championship run together with good structure works.
In your way if doin it the league is over early and if your club is knocked out of the championship in the first round your years football is over by the start of the summer . Mad no??"
No I agree with you completely, just highlighting that some of the demands made are completely ridiculous - lads who complain about fixtures often remind me of Brexiters, they want something that is impossible to deliver. What's even crazier is some want Croke Park to make club fixtures in a one size fits all way despite some counties like Fermanagh having a 8 team straight knock out championship and other counties having a 20 team league style championship.

You would have to ask the county board that.

In monaghan we run both together . You have championship weekends and league weekends. In my opinion it works good . Could be tweeted as most things could but I'd rather it this way than run off one competition then start another ."
I think it would work well in Fermanagh until a year we go on a run and then all hell would break lose. County wouldn't release players back to the clubs for championship games (which i understand) and then clubs would go mad. I think the separate league and championship campaign would work well. Wrap up the league and then straight into the championship. There was a three week gap between the semis and the finals of the championship. This could have been avoided entirely.

No it wouldn't. Look at the gaps between championship weekends fixtures. Three weeks from the semi final to the final? Why could that gap not be two weeks? The postponement of the semi finals till after the league killed the momentum of sides like Belcoo and Roslea. It's ludicrous to play championship in the middle of the league.

Its not ludicrous at all. Look at most sports. Amatuer and Pro. They play league throughout the year with cup based competitions in between league games. It allows sides mix things up between competitions and then you can structure season well.

If championship is played throughout the league then yes I've no issue but why play every round of the league without any championship fixtures before playing the last two league games? They stop the league with the semis and finals left to play to run off the championship. It is a ridiculous system in Fermanagh.
