Keith Earls Delivers All Ireland For Limerick

(Oldest Posts First)

A lot of talk on how rugby great Keith earls was the catalyst for limericks all Ireland victory. Serial winner Keith informed the players on how to improve there mental and physical preparation after years of failure. Is there a lesson for other GAA teams ? Should GAA teams seek out Irish rugby heroes so they can learn from Superior sport athletes with vast knowledge on all aspects relating to sport?

I think it's quiet a common occurrence.
A lot of teams would have had guest speakers in from time to time to give their advise and experience.
The fact Limerick won the AI probably brought a bit more to it on this occasion but it doesn't happen every time you get a famous sportsman in.

Three observations. (1) If Galway had put that last ball in the Limerick and won there would have been little or nothing about Keith's input and I am certainly not saying I do not welcome it. (2) I think Paul O'Connelll made a similiar contribution in 2007, but without the same effect. (3) When we had painstakingly reduced the nine point lead to four in the same 2007 and had subs of the calibre of what we have now Paul's urgings just might have made a difference.

Perhaps it would have made a difference but essentially the bottom line is, it comes down to the strength of your panel. Great to get these guys in but they cannot make the difference if you don't have the talent.

He didnt deliver anything. He spoke to the squad like any player from other sports/motivational character does to any squad.
Irish rugby squad have had figures from all areas of life speak to them prior to games on motivational aspect of game.

Keith Earls has about 0.00001% to do with Limerick winking the All ireland.

The main man to make it happen was the hurling coaching wizard that is Paul Kinnerk.

A lot of other factors involved too, but all the players and management couldn't state the influence of Kinnerk highly enough.

the gaa is full of sheep mentality.
"train them hard in january, weed out the uncommitted lad."cue complaining when player drops out "sure the training they were doing was crazy", "but it worked for clare in 1995".
"bring in a sports psychologist,it worked for wexford in 1996",i am sure every team has had one since.
who was it on off the ball who said "if the northern teams were set dancing 2 nights a week they all would be"?

only one team can win an all ireland any year.you can point to any number of individual reasons why.

if it wasnt keith earls it was the ice cream van :)
