What a man! Donating 100 grand to each county board; this will make a huge impact to all of the teams in the country. This money could be what a few counties needed to get up to scratch with Dublin. oakleafersir (Derry) - Posts: 808 - 24/09/2018 17:43:33 2143570 Link 1 |
Great man. Not just sport, has been piling money into loads of good causes over a number of years. St.Conleth (Kildare) - Posts: 1700 - 24/09/2018 20:01:08 2143593 Link 1 |

very welcome for many clubs...should be noted that it is for club development so i hope the money is not frittered away on paying expenses or wages for managers or coaching staff mayotyroneman (Tyrone) - Posts: 1821 - 24/09/2018 21:18:07 2143608 Link 0 |
will it really make much of a difference ?. 40 clubs in Cavan that's £2,500 each. There's not a lot you can do with that. s goldrick (Cavan) - Posts: 5518 - 24/09/2018 21:59:28 2143618 Link 0 |

It's €100'000 per county so I take it that they are. That said the likes of Dublin and Cork will see a few hundred quid per club at most so while it's welcome it's not exactly life changing. CastleBravo (Meath) - Posts: 1643 - 24/09/2018 22:33:10 2143621 Link 2 |
Dublin clubs you mean? Why wouldn't they?

Agree 100%. The hungry managers/mismanagers should not get an iota of this money. Also the smaller the number of clubs, which tends to be the smaller counties will get more per club. Master stroke by the "kid" and bookmakers are seldom wrong.

Some man for one man. Fairplay I know it'll do Galway a lot of good but the likes of Louth, leitrim and similar it will change the setup completely galwayfball (Galway) - Posts: 1678 - 24/09/2018 22:56:47 2143628 Link 0 |
I'm sure any club in Cavan would be delighted with that, its €2,500 more than they had this morning, wouldn't it buy a new set of jerseys or help out with the upkeep of their pitches?

It's very important that Dublin get the lion's share, I mean how are we supposed to keep winning without all that money!??

I'm sure your club don't have to accept it, I'm sure you can refuse if its not enough. €2,000 is a lot of effort in ticket sales, or bucket collecting. It will buy for example 40 O Neill's match football's, or over 150 hurling balls, or would pay for buses and accommodation to bring your underage teams away for a weekend on a trip to play in a different county. It would pay for roughly half of a decent scoreboard, it would buy a lot of lime to mark a pitch. It would fill a diesel generator for floodlights for over a years worth of use. Just some examples 890202 (Wexford) - Posts: 1278 - 25/09/2018 00:37:03 2143638 Link 0 |
Maybe not but to an individual club, it could mean some new gym equipment, fresh paint on the clubhouse etc. free money always appreciated.

Money is to be divided up among the clubs in each county....I'd say all Dublin fans know where their local club is ;)
