Dublin Senior Hurling Manager

(Oldest Posts First)

Dublin on the lookout for a new hurling manager with Pat Gilroy stepping down citing work commitments. Will Cunningham step up or is it time to give Mattie Kenny a shot?

Doubt it to be honest.

Pretty well known around the place why Kenny was passed over and I doubt his price has dropped in the mean time.

I thought he was being seriously looked at for the Waterford job? This might change things now alright. You would imagine it's a straight choice between Cunningham and Kenny.

It's a pity to see Gilroy leave. Dublin were unrecognisable this year compared with the last couple of years.

Kenny was linked to Waterford at one point alright. Apparently Pauric Fanning is getting that job.

Even though Kenny is probably better than Anthony Cunningham, for the sake of continuity it might make sense to give Cunningham the Dublin job. If he can keep the rest of Gilroy's backroom team in tact, all he'll need is a good coach to take over from him.

Anthony Cunningham should be a shoo in for this job as he's already there.

Yeah, I agree 100%. Just needs to pick his coach wisely so he doesn't get dragged away from managing into back into coaching. That was Eamon O'Shea's big challenge when he came in as Tipp manager.
