Replying To panamasam:  "The player in question is Odhran McFadden Ferry. He had yet another fantastic game and for me was probably the standout half back in the Ulster club championship. Injuries permitting he is definitely going to be a top inter county player. As you say tough as teak and has an aggressive streak similar to the likes of Johnny Cooper and Philly McMahon. I don't think he intentionally threw the ball. He was falling and the ball I imagine was very greasy so just came out of his hand before he could get a fist on it. He did show some inexperience in extra time when racing onto foot pass free into space. He done well initially kicking the ball on on the ground but then should have gone done to pick it up as he likely could have won a free or manufactured another crucial score. Anyways immaterial as Gweedore got over the line and he can be very very proud of his contributions. He was a big leader for this team in all their games which was really impressive given his youth."
Ah he's a grest bit of stuff he's stood out in all the games but he needs to be careful his discipline is dodgey. Terrible conditions the pitch was unplayable imo (when a ball doesn't bounce up its unplayable) it's unfair on players playing in such a great/massive competition to be played this time of year but there's no other option really.

Caltra is not an Irish speaking club or area.

Ya he plays on the edge but most of the top defenders do. However ur right something he does need to watch being over aggressive.

Caltra is a football club in east Galway, a few miles from Ballinasloe and Mountbellew.

In all fairness you could get weather like today at any time of the year.

Great win for Gaoith Dobhair, unlike others I thought it was a really absorbing game with both teams making the best of the conditions.

Red card probably decided it although I thought Gaoith Dobhair looked the more likely the longer the game went on. Scotstown ran into an early three point lead in the second half & one or two more points could have finished it but it was not to be.

It's a red card all day long, another one we're im scratching my head saying "what was he thinking" level game and he decides to throw two haymakers can't understand his thinking.

Congratulations to Gaoth Dobhair on a deserved win. Credit has to go to both teams for serving up an absorbing final. I must admit I thought it was going to be another one of those days where a Monaghan team got the better of a Donegal team but fair play to Gaoth Dobhair - they dug it out in the end.

Cassidy and MacNiallais were very good again but my man of the match was Odhran McFadden-Ferry. His style of play might not be everyone's cup of tea but every successful team needs a player or two like this. He might need to control the aggression a wee bit but as others have said, I think we'll be seeing him in the green and gold at senior level before long.

He will very much be welcomed into the county team as I do think we have lost some of our aggression defensively more to do with the previous regime.

Congrats to Gaoth Dobhair. They really dug in deep yesterday especially during the second half when they looked in big trouble. Plenty of contenders for motm but someone who hasn't been mentioned in this thread yet is Michael Carroll. I thought he was exceptional. His running power caused Scotstown plenty of problems and he was involved in most moves that lead to scores and also made some big turnovers with the one midway through the first half of extra time standing out most. He had no right to get to that ball when it was kicked but made up serious ground and slide across his own 45 to intercept a ball.

100% agree. Didn't see game but saw red card incident on news. No doubt about it. Silly challenge.
