Sitting at the bar at Hayes Hotel in 1884 after mistaking an A for a Y in the advert for a new mens Organisation being formed and realising the men at the table were meeting to form a sporting Organisation. Can laugh about it now though.

I remember when my club won a minor championship in 1997 as a 5 year old, I just remember cars tooting around the place.

First Derry game I went to was 1999 I think.

I also have a photo of me as a baby in the Sam Maguire in 1993, Coleman and Downey took the cup to the primary school

Playing Offaly mid to early 1970s being lifted over the stiles by my Dad , getting an apple and an orange , sitting on the old wooden bench's that passed as seats , finally a sound came from no where, it was the Artane Boys Band in the tunnel , never heard anything like it , the national anthem , I was hooked

Replying To Liamwalkinstown:  "Think the stand out players on that team were Philip Danaher, a young John Quane and Joe Reddington

1st GAA memory was whole summer of 1985 weren't far off that year whole county went crazy. 1st game brought to was league semi final in 86 v mayo in croke park. I'll never forget the roar of the crowd and atmosphere maybe it was just me being a kid and v young but the old croke park and league semi finals and finals had a way better atmosphere back then.

Replying To TheHermit:  "Woops what was his name, maybe some Limerick poster might know? I wonder is that game on youtube or anything I think it was a pretty close and high scoring. I certainly remember my Dad and my Godfather being very animated throughout and at the final whistle.
Sure them were the days when you could jump into the driver seat after a sculling a few pints and no-one batted an eyelid. Crazy to think of now. I remember coming back from the Gaelic Grounds after Clare's historic win over us in 92. My God we must have stopped in every second bar from Limerick city to the Halfway on the way back. Sure I was happy out, crips and cidona till I was fit to burst!!!"
That was my first Munster final - was in the stand too and Limerick scored a. penalty with the first attack and a second goal midway through the first half when he received the ball with his back to the goals - they knocked in about 3-12 that day and we scored about 23 or so points - the goals cost Ballylongford's Kieran Culhane father of David who played with Kerry 2 or 3 years ago his place at full back with Tom Spillane returning for the semi against Down.. that year in Killarney was my first Kerry/Cork game too - Cork were going for3 in a row all Ireland final wise and JOHN Cronin from Waterville got on the end of a mid kick from Man of the match Pa Dennehy and stitched it. My first Kerry game was a pitch opening in Castiemaine in 1989 vs Dublin will never forget the crowd. But ya 1991 was a strange one Limeick def give us enough of it that day.

Tyrone v Derry 1972 Ulster Semi final at O,Neill Park, Dungannon. Tyrone won by two points and went on to lose the final to first time winners Donegal. I always liked going to O,Neill Park and as well as hosting Tyrone matches it also staged several Ulster semi finals including Derry, Monaghan and Armagh. It would be good if they could develop the ground to county standard again as a backup to Omagh.
