We all enjoy buying a match day programme. woops (Kerry) - Posts: 2073 - 29/08/2018 14:21:45 2137408 Link 0 |
Starting teams are the worst kept secret in the world. Oppositions know the starting team. StoreysTash (Wexford) - Posts: 1732 - 29/08/2018 14:39:22 2137411 Link 0 |

I agree with Liam. The soccer way is good. Adds to the build up all the speculation. Name a squad the Wed before the game, have it in the programme with everyone's number and then name the team anytime up to 30 mins before the game. It works well in soccer. Great speculation in the ground when the team is announced in terms of who is playing where and what tactics are to be used etc. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13705 - 29/08/2018 15:04:43 2137424 Link 2 |
Squad numbers is the way to go. Have the entire squad printed in the program and then leave space where people can fill in the team if they want. Then there is no confusion about who's wearing what number or giving out about different players being started. Works perfectly well in soccer. iarmhi_an_mhaith (Westmeath) - Posts: 268 - 29/08/2018 15:38:23 2137435 Link 0 |
Think it's more the media. Papers can talk about who's playing where and the match up's. doesn't make much sense if half the players are playing right enough.

Just give players squad numbers at start of January or maybe the league every year and they keep that number for the year. DonaldDuck (Tipperary) - Posts: 544 - 29/08/2018 20:12:21 2137524 Link 0 |
Good point Liam actually I was thinking more old school and the excitement of hearing the team announced a few days prior to a big match but ya I like the idea of having squad numbers and then being able to fill in the numbers on the matchday lineup. woops (Kerry) - Posts: 2073 - 30/08/2018 11:37:15 2137623 Link 0 |
