Players Who Have Won AI In Hurling And Football

(Oldest Posts First)

How many players have won the senior All, Ireland in both hurling and football ?

I know Teddy McCarthy has and I guess and only guessing that Jimmy Barry Murphy and Ray Cummins also have as far as I know Teddy Mac is the only player to have won both in the same year

Any more there must be

Alan Kerins is the last player to come close, having won a football medal in 2001, but lost the hurling final.
It's very difficult to see it happening again for a number of reasons. The days of the dual player at the highest level are numbered, and then of course there are always so few counties that even have a chance of winning both.

Con O'Callaghan has done that in reverse.

Senior Inter-County with the Dubs and Club Hurling title with Cuala.

I never realised that he won with Salthill. That would be some achievement.

Brian Murphy of Cork has All Ireland medals at schools, minor, u21and senior levels in both hurling and football. He also has All Ireland senior club football medals . He has no senior club hurling medals.

Con is a pure stud. I'd love to see him go with the Dub Hurlers full time. I think they'll be a dangerous team for the next few years. They gave Galway, Kilkenny, and Wexford all they could handle and I think they'll only improve.

bit off topic but in 2000 we won under 21 hurling and got to under 21 football final
, brian geary (now a hurling selector) stephen lucey brian begley played both finals , mark oriordan conor fitzgerald and colm hickey played the football and I think were on hurling panel

Yep Teddy McCarthy played both finals, Walsh missed one of the finals but definitely played most of the games on the journey to the final he missed afaik.

Alan Keirns won Football club (SK 2006), Hurling club (2011), football county (2001) and lost hurling finals in 01 and 05. It would have been some achievment had he the set of four, pretty sure he would have been the only one in history. Three out of four aint bad though.
