'll ask you again, Are you saying that Ned Quinn is deciding who plays where and when, and in doing so is favouring Kilkenny? perfect10 (Wexford) - Posts: 3929 - 11/07/2018 08:50:12 2120616 Link 0 |
Difficult to pick a location that would suit both sides Thurles probably would have been the best location and yes a double header would have been better, Portlaoise would be too far for the Wexford fans, as a neutral I would have loved to go to this game but Cork is too far, best of luck to all sides and safe travelling to the fans riverboys (Mayo) - Posts: 1389 - 11/07/2018 14:10:33 2120721 Link 0 |

A couple of years ago Wexford were playing Limerick in Thurles when Liam Dunne was in charge ye were giving out about that it was said it would be far easier to go to Croke park than trying to get to Thurles, blaming Ned Quinn is hilarious what about kilkenny there minors were playing in the leinster hurling final the Saturday in portlaoise the seniors were playing that sunday in croke park fans had to go both days and out three sundays in a row. Between division 1a/1b, the knockout stages of division 1 of the league and the Liam McCarthy championship, only 4 games in Croke Park this year. Killarney.87 (Tipperary) - Posts: 2513 - 12/07/2018 12:32:35 2120966 Link 0 |
Sorry it might be 6 or 7. But still its pittance compared with Football. Killarney.87 (Tipperary) - Posts: 2513 - 12/07/2018 12:33:52 2120967 Link 0 |
Well the supporters of both teams made there displeasure with the venue known. 10,000 and change. That's disgraceful. bronxirish (USA) - Posts: 17 - 14/07/2018 16:13:45 2121590 Link 0 |
I think the big problem Cork GAA have is its an absolute nightmare to get in and out of Pairc Ui Chaoimh because of the road layout and the restrictions in correcting this with the River Lee. Cork folk, will a new bridge be put in as part of the redevelopment of the Port of Cork? I think it is in the plans. Wexford and Waterford fans hate travelling to Cork because from Dunkittle onwards it is a nightmare. Not much fun for Tipp fans either. Not sure where you got the idea I was not travelling. I was there today. Took 2.5 hours to get from Ennis to Cork Con for parking. In fairness it was easy move around once we got to Cork but that was probably because of the small crowd. PUC was NOT a suitable venue for this match and no disprects to Cork as generally I love the place.

Playing a match on a Saturday afternoon doesn't suit a lot of people working or catching up on their housework after a Monday to Friday week . OpenStand (Limerick) - Posts: 658 - 15/07/2018 07:56:32 2121917 Link 1 |
Seems to me that 3pm in Cork is just being used as an excuse for supporters that wouldn't travel anyway. Thurles at the same time wouldn't have had many more I'd imagine. If Clare support thought Cork on a Saturday was too difficult to get to, that you couldn't drive right up to the stadium and get parking easily, what are they going to make of a 5pm throw-in in Dublin. Simple fact is their support will travel the next day as there will be a bit of belief again. Ben10 (Cork) - Posts: 25 - 15/07/2018 08:40:36 2121925 Link 0 |
i work in a bar and can absolutely assure you people didnt travel in protest as I heard them complaining all week about the time and venue.and these are people who go to every match, league, etc included. perfect10 (Wexford) - Posts: 3929 - 15/07/2018 17:19:23 2122174 Link 1 |

it was a double header 3-4 years ago in thurles, and it was a great day out.i think we played waterford and limerick played galway if i remember right. lessons need to be learned here.we have had the driest summer in 40 years and yet thurles couldnt hold 2 matches? perfect10 (Wexford) - Posts: 3929 - 16/07/2018 08:42:06 2122495 Link 0 |
I think the problem was keeping Frank happy was more important than looking after the supporters
