If I was asked before the championship started about our chances in a super group with the teams we have....I would have said a dead cert for a win against Kildare.

Now....Its much closer than that. I think we have the beating of them but not if we play like we did against Leitrim (on the most part) or like we did against Laois in the second half yesterday. Kildare are playing to their potential (or near it) and that makes them a very different and difficult opposition. We have played some great stuff this year but also some poor stuff too. Monaghan by 1 or 2.

Most pundits media etc predicting kildare to win and go on to beat Galway and make semi final. Kildare do look v impressive lately in fairness we have it all to do here.

No cute hoorism here. Kildare are beginning to realise their potential, beating last year's All Ireland finalists will have given them a new belief that they can beat anyone. Plus the fact that they had Fermanagh bate out of sight by half time and Monaghan were beaten by the same opposition in an Ulster semi final. As already alluded to by other posters, Monaghan have enjoyed a breeze through to the quarter finals with easy wins over Division 4 teams and so could be caught cold this weekend.

Kildare, Roscommon and Tyrone all qualified for the Super 8s. It was a bad weekend for royaldunne...

The betting had Monaghan as clear favourites yesterday. I cannot see where the merit is as they have had easy games. 2 monaghan lads in work here. 1 lad will not hear of Kildare getting within 5 points of Monaghan. The other reckons kildare will win. All i know is Kildare have the potential to cause serious problems to Monaghans defence.

Fermanagh beat Monaghan, and Kildare beat Fermanagh, therefore Kildare will beat Monaghan. That's that then, we all know that logic never fails.

Carlow beat Kildare, Tyrone beat Carlow, Monaghan beat Tyrone....Don't overthink it Toney.

I am hoping we win but I would not be confident of anything more that 1-2 points. I am expecting a tough game for both teams.

There will be nothing in this. Agree, i think a couple of points either way. Kildare have come the harder road so hopefully running out of steam won't be an issue at some point. I do think Kildare are being over hyped a bit in the media, we seem to be this week's (or two weeks) darling which is never a good thing. As they say, a slap in the back is only an inch away from a kick on the arse.

There are two ways of looking at your suggestion for the late concession of scores against Fermanagh. As suggested your team only conceded late scores because you introduced subs the 3rd quarter to give regulars a rest. If this is true it is an explanation but it also indicates that your reserves are not good enough. In the modern game this is considered a real weakness, I am afraid.

It's that straightforward! But I'm not predicting Kildare will win on Sunday based on that simple logic. I meant that the Fermanagh form will instill further belief into the Kildare players. It will be a tight game and I wouldn't rule out a draw.

We all have potential that's for sure but that's not what counts....is it ?

Most of the subs brought on were forwards. Chris Healy came on and scored 1-02. The real problem is we don't have enough quality defenders in reserve. Hopefully sort that next year with a couple of strong u 20's coming through.

Cop yourself on. We are vastly superior to kildare. Kerry and the dubs don't play the poor relation card. With the team we have now it's time to show confidence in them. Monaghan by 6+.

If Monaghan don't beat Kildare by 4-5 pts then we may as well forget about it.

About time the real Monaghan support starts to appear. No more of this inferiority rubbish. Kildare beat a tired Mayo outfit which glossed over an unmitigated disaster of a year. If we want to be involved at August end then we should and will beat Kildare handy.

No doubt James is a great defender but who else in reserve that we've seen recently? Maybe Cian O Donoghue. They both should be getting more game time.

This game is setup perfectly for Monaghan with all the hype surrounding kildare atm.

Kildare were superb on Saturday evening, particularly going forward.

an area were i thought kildare were very poor against fermanagh was their inability to put any pressure on the fermanagh kickout despite pressing. Fermanagh had solid amounts of possession on the restarts and created plenty of chances to at least have double scores on the board at half time.

on another note, kildare had turned Navan into Newbridge Mk2 ..unbelievable support for a round four qualifier that type of support definitely has an impact on the game, i have a feeling their will be a huge kildare support making the short trip to croke park

Don't give Mona1 airtime, clearly imposter look at super 8 forum. Let's take each game as it comes.
