Galway GAA Letter To FIFA.

(Oldest Posts First)

As is appearing on all media outlets this morning, a letter on Galway GAA headed paper posted on their Galway GAA Twitter account sent to FIFA requesting them to alter the time of their World Cup final. This is hard to believe, if its for real & you would have to think it is since it is posted on the official Galway GAA Twitter account, it beggars belief. It cannot even be seen as funny, far better for them to write to Croke Park to request a time change for the Galway/Kerry game or getting the GAA to ensure that Provincial champions get a home game in the first games of the Super 8's in future or before they vote in Congress as they did on the Super 8's to have read the fine print, that would be more in line with the type of letters they should be posting. Interesting to hear the dog ate my homework excuses to come.

Thought it was very funny but you are right they should have changed the time of the match. Has someone perhaps hacked the Galway twitter account?

They are the Galway County Board. Please Don't judge Galway People by that Clan. Galway County Board represent themselves and their Families. No one else.

Hard to Hack them on Twitter as they block anybody that disagrees with them.. I have to check up their names and put them up.. Few from the West here stick their Bellies out in all photographs in Connacht tribune.

It's not for real. A bit of craic but also a chance to show up the GAA for theiir ridiculous timing of the game. They're not the only sporting organisation ignoring the World Cup. While England are playing their quarter final this afternoon the show will carry on as normal at Wimbledon while some racing events in England had early starts to accommodate those paying punters who also want to see the match. Fair enough if an organisation doesn't want to be seen to support another sport but how are they supposed to get people interested who like more than one sport? Cutting off their nose to spite their face.

Ha what's even more funny is that posters here are thinking it's serious and are "embarrassed" for Galway GAA!!!! Obviously irony and sarcasm are lost on some people!

This is a very clever way to expose the ridiculousness of the GAA's decision to fix the match for the same time as the World Cup final. Well done to whoever thought this idea up

Yeah we can all see the sarcastic side of it, but maybe your missing the irony of the fact that the first letter to effect a change of time of the Galway/Kerry game should have been from the same official to the CCCC. If your a full time official representing the County & you had concerns about the timing of this fixture, put pressure on the GAA/CCCC first, not penning a sarcastic letter to FIFA. Cian O Neill & Kildare GAA showed how to do that eloquently & professionally & how to get a result. This is the complete opposite to how Kildare went about things. At least Donegal County Board had the guts to go public challenging their concerns & force a meeting.

Even the GAA top brass will realise in due course how stupid their decision is. Indirectly publicly ridiculing them is an appropriate response.

I really fear for the future of humanity if people actually thought this was serious and not a joke. Certain posters can never be taken seriously again for starters

No kidding. Great to see the famous Irish love of the craic is alive and well!
Some people live to get their undies in a bunch.

The 'letter' is dated 2nd July and The GAA announced the throwin time on July 3rd.

Anyways, the best of luck to Galway and Roscommon in the Super 8s.

Sure isn't it great Craic to see officials having a laugh on the official Twitter page, sure it's all only a bit of fun. Like you say you don't know what's wrong with people that would want to watch the World Cup final, not true Gaels like yourself. There must be something wrong with the people in Renvyle & Letterfrack following Harry Kane at the World Cup as well. Sure all the issues like Mountain South, floodlights at Pearse Stadium, gate money at Ballinasloe, parents of juveniles not being replied to by officials, let's put it all on Twitter & have a good laugh about it & label anyone not joining in as having something wrong with them.

it's only a bit of craic, not everything has to be dead serious. it was just a tongue in cheek 'letter' to show how much of a balls the GAA made of the whole scheduling. Its dated from before the date and time was announced! People making a big deal over absolutely nothing.
