Poor dublin they should get 3 home games after all they are the power house of Gaa with great support at the rate of support in leinster kilmacud croker will be hosting the 2021 leinster final. Leinster Final attendances by year 2008 - 80,112 2009 - 74,573 2010 - 48, 875 2011 - 43, 983 2012 - 69,657 2013 - 54,485 2014 - 62,660 2015 - 47,480 2016 - 38, 885 2017 - 66,734 2018 - 41,728 I started this post about the fact that 1 team gets to play 2 out of three matches in their home venue and all the dubs say they would be happy to travel that is except jim gavin dubs..... If kerry got away with this the dubs would be marching on the streets. Dublin streets within the M50 of course ;-) ulsterrules (Donegal) - Posts: 259 - 04/07/2018 18:31:05 2118588 Link 1 |
Each county will play 2 matches away from their home ground, wherever they are played what's the difference?

Good point, so what your saying is you couldn't fit Dublin in Clones. That some record of attendance for a provincal final, it's clearly the highest in the country by a distance. TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 4441 - 04/07/2018 19:30:52 2118606 Link 2 |
There is a simple soloution to this problem which is as follows. MuckrossHead (Donegal) - Posts: 5028 - 04/07/2018 19:31:15 2118607 Link 1 |
The motion proposed was as follows: 'It would introduce a Group Stage for the All-Ireland quarter-final which would see the eight teams divided into two groups of four. This would ensure more high-quality games of Gaelic Football at the height of the season. The groupings in year one (2018) would be as follows. Group 1 - Munster provincial winner, Connacht provincial winner, Ulster runner-up or team that defeats them in round 4 of the Qualifiers, Leinster runner-up or team that defeats them in round 4. Group 2 - Ulster provincial winner, Leinster provincial winner, Munster runner-up or team that defeats them in round 4 for the Qualifiers, Connacht runner-up or team that defeats them in round 4. The groups in the succeeding years would be determined by Central Council. Each team would play one home match, one away match, and one match at Croke Park.[/I]"]On the basis of the above post this really is a stupid argument; it's set in stone plain as now everyone jump off the Newbridge bandwagon and get on with it; I would gladly see Tyrone playing twice in Croke Park; suck it up it's home away and Croke Park with no caveats about Dublin so no arguing required hithimhard (Tyrone) - Posts: 20 - 04/07/2018 19:42:55 2118611 Link 0 |
Dublin aren't, they're playing 2 at home. that's what the CB are really questioning as to how a team can use the same pitch for their home and neutral matches

I would prefer to see us play our home game in Parnell Park and the required Croke Park game in funny enough, Croke Park. Would this be appease Donegal?

I give up, I really do. This is now in the realms of fantasy with common sense having left the house running & screaming. MuckrossHead (Donegal) - Posts: 5028 - 04/07/2018 21:54:34 2118661 Link 1 |

You give up? This issue wasn't raised by Dublin. Common sense would have been to read the rules and then just let it go. But no...

It would be good to sort this out, not for Donegal's interests (cause as pointed out, it was always going to be in Croke Park) but going forward as a rule change so next year it's defined as neutral and not in Croke Park. Al_Maguire (Donegal) - Posts: 240 - 05/07/2018 10:31:38 2118753 Link 3 |
Exactly!! It suits certain posters to point the finger whilst ignoring the blatant unfairness in their own province. Start from scratch and make the competition fairer. Good post!!

Yeah thats much fairer. Sure while yer at it why dont we use Fitzgeralds stadium as our home ground and Austins Stacks as our neutral venue?

It's a shambles. As great as Dublin are, the continued favouritism shown towards them affects the legacy of that team. Daith (Kildare) - Posts: 1171 - 05/07/2018 17:27:17 2118882 Link 2 |

Well done to the Donegal Co. Board who, after a meeting with Croke Park officials today, have secured a total review of the Super 8 competition after this year. Every county will be allowed to contribute to the review & hopefully we will have a good competition in 2019 MuckrossHead (Donegal) - Posts: 5028 - 05/07/2018 18:44:06 2118897 Link 0 |
Fair play to them for taking their stance. I wish it would've been done at the outset (not just by Donegal CB but by everyone) as this was clearly what was going to happen to one of the non Leinster provincial champions every year that Dublin win the Leinster title. It was clear and obviously stated from the beginning what would happen. It's a shame for the Donegal team that no one spoke up earlier. The top brass can only do what they are allowed to do by the individual counties. That has been clear for some time despite the fact that no one bothered to try and change things.
