A young player in Cavan got his jaw broke in multiple places with a box on the blind from behind in a Division 1 league game last week in cavan. He scored 11 points the previous week and from the word go his marker was all over him, the referee failed to deal with incident early enough and it resulted in a serious injury and a week in st james hospital. this thuggery needs to be dealt with and wiped out of our games

If a lad gets a broken jaw from a punch from behind it is not the referees fault. It is the fault of the lad who threw the punch and the club who put him out on the field in their jersey. Are you saying if the referee had issued a yellow card earlier then the thug would have known that breaking his opponents jaw was probably the wrong thing to do?

10 Armagh players suspended for Ulster final. Probably be as well throwing them out of competition.
Armagh manager says they are appealing.

Dagger has a very valid point.

Replying To IrishGael3:  "Sorry you are totally correct and an error on my side - I did actually mean Lower 23. I'm also being very general in my comments and not all counties in the other provinces spend their time jumping on everything that happens in Ulster so want to be clear there also. But my last point still stands - this behaviour happens everywhere and anywhere and in most contact sports - I'm sure the authorities will deal with it and we all move on - no need for all the horror demonstrated by some posters."
Could you help us out there and quote some of the posts having a go at Ulster on this thread. Im struggling to find any.

I agree with McConville on this one. Are the GAA going to be consistent in their implementation of these suspensions going forward for similar incidents??

It's not that i believe that these sanctions are wrong its just that i have a feeling that the GAA will once again act before thinking and not be consistent at later dates when the inevitable happens again.

Time will tell, it's about time the gas took a hard line and a zero tolerance to this skullduggery a blight on our games and please spare us the absolute nonsense of trying to justify this outright a violence by referencing the prevelence levels of this thuggery in other sports.

2 wrongs don't make a right. I think that any incident in the future should be looked at on its own merits and not relative to incidents that happened and didn't get sanctioned in the past. There has got to be a new start and a line drawn and in order to do that, you are going to have to set a precedent.

I bet the GAA are glad it is an u20 call they have had to make and not one around a senior player(s). It will be interesting when that happens, how fairly the GAA chiefs will handle it.

You are correct but in the AI we had a bit of rugby (or was it wrestling) played at the end and there was no action taken so maybe you fellas thing this type of thing is ok.

Exactly. I just can't help but think that an incident similar to this will happen in the very near future at senior level and no action will be taken.

That's true and in the league final in 2017 there were plenty of incidents between Dublin and Kerry that went unpunished and iv noticed there has been no action taken against Jonny cooper from last week.

They should have had more than ten suspended. Nearly all of their bench ran onto the field to contribute to the melee so that's all of them suspended, plus whoever out of the 15 on the team at the time who contributed. They were lucky only to have 10 suspended

True, next there will be some manager kicking a ball on to the pitch to disrupt an attack but then nobody would be that lousy.....
