Brilliant idea for a thread, we should also have an award for most ridiculous siege mentality for 2018. Technically there was a mini-siege already during the league with Jim Gavin and the media over access to recordings of games. The Limerick football manager is worth a mention here. He has presumably been preparing all year for the championship opener but still didn't know his squad of 26 by Wednesday. Then a mix-up led to him threatening not to field a team for the game until 10 minutes before throw in. In fairness, I think he's just using the only bit of national exposure he get's to highlight how the footballers are being treated in comparison to their hurling brothers lately. As a manager its his job to speak up for his players and if the CB's treatment leaves something to be desired he has a right to say it. Well Mick Ryan ended as soon as it started..... Sure what would he have said anyway : "Ah sure, the game took on a life of its own, Limerick deserved the win, we will sit down this week and analyse it and go through what we can improve on before the game next weekend, blah blah blah".
