Sunday Game 2018

Replying To Pinkie:  "Why do they continue to show highlights and analyse games which have been shown earlier in the day. It drives me bananas.
If somebody from Cork or Tipp wanted to see the game, they could either go to it or watch it live.
Instead, they show a few minutes of Wexford Offaly, and also a historic day for Carlow.
Remember back in the day when there was a Monday game?"
The Sunday game has reached it's sell by date and should be restructured is correct, it's boring, predictable and tunnel focused. Joanne Cantwell is an excellent presenter and quiet knowledgeable but what RTE are actually doing is papering over the cracks by glamourizing the same Sunday game that we are critising, by putting it on a par with sky's Rachael Wyse, perhaps?.
RTE have it almost an elitist show at 70%, div. 2 at 15% div. 3 at 10% and div. 4 at 5% or less.
Rotate the presenters spot on a weekly / monthly basis, let the presenter select and change the panel more regularly than previous.
Better still, bring back what used to be the "Monday game."with a male presenter, and rotate both presenters as required, with all divisions getting a fair share of airing over the two nights.

Totally agree with most on here its very poor especially showing matches that were live eariler in the day getting most of the airtime ( the league was a joke for this ).
Couple of things they could do,
1, have the sunday game either football only or hurling only then on Monday night the other 1.30hrs highlight program this gives plenty of time to cover all games and give results especially to hurling competitions.

2, why oh why is the draw not live for the qualifiers on the sunday game this really pisses me off i want to be sitting on the edge of my seat praying for a home draw hoping well avoid x y and z.

3, Don't have people covering there own counties i don't want to here pat talking about kerry or whelan chatting about the dubs etc.

Agree with everything you said.

1. If I want to see one particular game I don't want to wait for 2 hrs for 2 mins of highlights
2. Everyone was interested in the outcome even neutrals because of mayo and Tyrone
3. Biggest issue . I think ciaran whelan is fantastic particularly at analysing teams style of play what they are doing right or wrong but he is so biased towards the dubs. he knows some of the team personally he can't be impartial, none of us could if we knew the players well. The way he spoke about poor Galway who didn't want to be in a league final with dublin because they'd be destroyed and the players would never recover. Keegan v Connolly they didn't have footage of how incident began and none of the analysts saw how either ,but whelan says Keegan must of started it because he is a back and Connolly is a forward. Cooper commits a nasty foul. Whelan "I know him it's not like him , I don't think we should be to harsh on him.( and Cooper is no angel)
A bit of a rant only because I think he's otherwise very good on the show. Sean Cavanaugh can't possibly analyse Tyrone he was only on the team last year.i don't want to hear Spillane or Brolly talk about anyone. Can Brolly not talk about Galway without talking about Paddy Tally. I've never heard a member of the backroom team talked about so much

There is always the option of going to a game.

Watching the live match with the sound turned down on the telly and listening live to your favourite radio station covering the game.

Watching it on another channel if possible.

My days of being curious about what they are saying in the RTE studio is long gone.

Des Cahill and the Sunday game should do proper research before making silly statements like they did last night,

Dessie put up a picture of the program from the Kerry v Clare game that showed results between the two teams in semifinals over the last 100 years or so and said that Kerry left out Clare's win over Kerry in the Munster final in 92 but Tim slattery was only asked for Kerry v Clare Munster semifinal results not Munster final results and Tim has the email to prove it.

Get ye'r facts right the Sunday game.

Is mise Gaelgoiri. I like the Irish language. I think that TG4 should be given the rights to the All Ireland matches. In Irish. They had a good show, Seo Spoirt. This is what is needed imho. Sunday game is useless especially the football. 2 pundits, Tom O Sé and Colm O Rourke slagging off teams, usually Ulster ones. Tom O Sé praising Kerry too. What have Meath won also in the last 20 years? O Rourke is not good either.
Kevin McStay was ok, Ciaran Whelan was ok too. Brolly and Spillane useless. Tom O Sé never slags off Kerry also.

The Sunday Game live games this Sunday;

2pm Tipp v Clare

4pm Dublin v longford

I understand they thought it would be Dublin Meath but surely once you know it's not you change for Waterford limerick to be put on at 4pm?

I'm a Dublin fanatic but even I would rather watch the hurling than Dublin hammering longford in a more or less empty stadium.

Surely Donegal v Down would be a better game to show or even limerick and Waterford like you say.

The are only showing 3 football games up to provincial finals so dropping one of them doesn't make much sense. The shouldn't have picked any dublin game in leinster given how far the are ahead of the rest. I don't know why anyone would think dublin meath would be a better game then dublin longford. Longford and meath are at a similar level.
