I suppose the modern reality is that when there's a major rugby game on the same day it sucks up all the publicity. There was a crowd of just 8,200 too which to my mind was small, considering that there was a lot of optimism in Offaly that the team has improved a lot and are going in the right direction.

Don't believe that attendance for one minute. The stand was full and the terrace on the far side was too.

Supposedly the place has a capacity of 18k or so. There is no way in the entire world that you could have fitted another 10k in there.

Scanners weren't working on the way in.

Have to agree here , the stand holds 7,000 I think there was surely close to 6,000 in it! The terrace had at least 5,000-6,000 on the terrace !

Not a dicky bird about it? Do you follow hurling? The fixtures were well known weeks ago.

Here's one for you diary, in case you're unaware. Next week, Sunday 20th - Leinster SHC round 2 - Wexford v Dublin, Innovate Wexford Park, 3pm.

I thought the crowd was bigger too but a friend of mine who was in the opposite terrace told me that the stand wasn't nearly as full as it seemed to me. Prior to the official attendance being announced he thought there was only about 5k present! He was definitely way off the mark in that anyway!

Offaly goalie had a great game. Made a number of excellent saves including a penalty from Canning and a brilliant reaction save from Glynn."
Eoghan Cahill is our goalie. Unbelievable keeping from the Birr man. Disappointing to concede 5-18 but still.

Quick question, I backed Offaly +12 in the handicap. 12 points was the difference in the end. Do I lose my bet as it comes in a draw?

Yes, you lose +12 makes it a draw.

This game is going as I thought it might. Dublin physically far stronger in almost all positions. Cunningham's influence is all over this performance.
The kk forwards have got a rude awakening here compared to the freedom tipp gave them.
Interesting second half to come.

Good first half by the Dubs, you can see the Gilroy touch starting to take root, everyone knowing there jobs and looking solid, ling way to go, expect Kilkenny to come out roaring in the second half.

KK backs very poor , losing a lot of ball coming out. Fennelly should make a difference in the second half, might be a draw yet

All of a sudden this game is huge for kk. Lose here and it could spell trouble with Galway to come next week

Blatant foul on Smyth in the build up to Kilkenny's goal. Nothing new when Kirwan is the referee.

Awful awful awful awful.

No one to blame but ourselves.

KK will win nothing this year.

Keaney going off was the turning poInt, O'Dwyer was poor when he came on in his place.

If Dublin can maintain that level of intensity in their next 3 games they have an outside chance of making the top 3.

Fair play to Gilroy and Cunningham they prepared the team really well for today. It's some step up from the shambolic effort under the other Cunningham.

Too raw right now to properly discuss it. Keaney going off was a hammer blow. He was playing great stuff. Dwyer on was a bad call too for me.

Discipline at the back cost us big time. Nolans attempts at clever puc outs cost us 4/5 points too.

Aaah just gut wrenching stuff but to be fair I think KK just about deserved the win on the day but they're a long way off Tipp/Galway imo.
