Replying To Northsidegaels:  "Was at pairc tailteann none of the lads in America are back but it didn't matter senechalstown were awful, simonstown with a completely different team from the county final last year. What happened in the summerhill v curraha game? Surely no group of healthy men should be getting a hammering that bad!"
Curraha missing 8 first team starters - not easy for a small club - they will struggle now and will do well to avoid an immediate drop back down. When they have everyone they are a decent side who could have caused some teams an issue
Surprise to me was Moynalvey beating Colmcilles. I was at the game where Cilles beat Wolfe Tones and I thought Cilles would kick on from that! That group could be the most interesting group yet. Ratoath have Tones next - important game for both teams
It will be interesting to see what teams grab the best 3rd place spots!!!

Didn't know that did lads head away? Wouldn't have thought that would be the case with it being their first year in senior. Moynalvey beating colmcilles was the only shock of the round really what is the format this year which groups do 3 qualify from and is there a preliminary qf?

The Ha had a few guys (including McEntee) that went to the states. They had committed to that last year I believe. They also have a few injuries including young Murphy who was playing well - I believe he is out for the year now.

As I understand it - the top two in each group go through automatically and then it is the best two 3rd place teams. (I stand to be corrected on that) - Whatever it is, the next round of games is all the more interesting now as the groups start to take shape.

Its the same format as every other year, Top 3 in Group A, Top 2 in Group B & C all go into Quarter finals, then 3rd place in B & C play off in a pre-lim quarter final as far as im aware. Same draw then for quarter finals as last year and semis etc.

Thanks for that! So in Group A it looks like Dunboyne, Simonstown and Ashbourne will go through. Groub B probably Summerhill, Gael Cholmcille with Skryne as the 3rd place team? And Group C being the hardest to call - and with the top 3 teams all having to play one another Moynalvey could slip in!

Inter is looking decent with lots of close games but a few teams notching up some big scores too.

Yeah you won't know who will win the inter championship this year. Teams that would have been tipped as favorites at the start in Oldcastle and dunderry could be both out of the championship if the lose at the weekend. Few surprise teams in Longwood and Bective going well but hard to call

Three teams from each group. Third place in group B faces third place in group C in a preliminary match with the winner of that game playing first place in group A in the quarter finals.

Curraha v Na Fianna - Na Fianna - Curraha won't be as bad as last time out but still expect Na Fianna to win this handy enough

Ratoath v Wolfe Tones - Draw - This could be the tie of the round. If Ratoath have learned any lessons from last year against Tones they could come through but I think this game could be won/lost in the middle of the field where I think Tones are stronger - Ratoath have loads of potential - but not tapping into it yet!

Dunshaughlin v Donaghmore/Ashbourne - Donaghmore/Ashbourne should win this one by a couple of points -
which should be enough to se ethem through this group - with 3 teams coming out of it.

St Patricks v St Colmcilles - St Colmcilles - Colmcilles to win this one handy enough - they need to after last round defeat.

Moynalvey v Rathkenny - Moynalvey - Moynalvey have a bit of momentum here and I think a win will set them up for a chance to go through to teh knockouts - but if will be tight

Simonstown v Blackhall Gaels - Simonstown should win comfortably - BG look like the team to go down this year!

St Peter's Dunboyne v Seneschalstown - St Peter's Dunboyne - Expect Dunboyne to come out on top here but it will take them a while to get on top I think. Dunboymne look to be going well - is this their year?

Skryne v Gaeil Colmcille - Gaeil Colmcille - This should be another tight game. I expect Gaeil Colmcille to have learned lessons from the League Final loss but I think Skyrne will be full of confidence. POR is in good form - 4 points from play in the league final but I think Colmcilles have an extra gear! This could be a draw but I think Colmcilles will just edge it!.

Navan O'Mahony's v Summerhill - Summerhill should be full of confidence after the last day out - NOM seem to be struggling. 5/6 point win for the Hill men!

Ratoath are quite an average side after sering them in Navan on Friday evening. Tones missing a lot of key men and Ratoath made hard work of getting over the line. No championship in that side and looking at the game i wouldn't like to be the county senior management

"Hard work" means winning by 8 and scoring 25 points in the process? OK, if that's the case I hope we make hard work of our remaining games.

It really kills you to see Ratoath win, doesn't it?

Not at all. Just an honest assessment of what i witnessed. They are 2nd favourites for championship but based on last night they are a long way off justifying that tag

I went to that game - thought it would be the hamebof the round! Ratoath were way better than Tones - I didn't think they were ever in trouble in the game and but for one bad kick out they would have won by more! Tones were missing two key men but looked well off Ratoath.
I don't know if Ratoath have enough to win Keegan - but they look better placed than most of the teams I have seen and certainly better placed than Tones! Looking forward to seeing Dunboyne - I haven't seen them yet this year
I honestly thought Tones would run rathoath close
As for the county management - if they weren't impressed with conor McGill and particularly Joey Wallace then I can't wsit to see who they are impressed with!

I remember you giving out about Simonstown last year when they bet Wolfe Tones, calling them lucky.....
