Who Are The Top Inter-County Football Goalkeepers?

(Oldest Posts First)

Recognising Stephen Cluxton's undoubted brilliance and David Clarke's All-Star, who do you feel are the top goalkeeper's in the country at the moment? It's great to see the way the role of the goalkeeper has evolved in recent years - no longer just defending the goal but acting as a significant component of each team.

Your own Rory Beggan is very good. Clarke is the best shot stopper. Cluxton has been at a high level for a long long time (but I still think he has weaknesses).

Comerford from Tipp is the best around right now IMO. Comerford from Dublin will be in about 3 or 4 years.

Cluxton, Beggan and Comerford in that order would be my choices. All excellent all round footballers too.

Rory beggen is an absolute beast of a keeper. He has everything shot stopping, kick outs ( composure on the ball when carrying out the field is outstanding) he kicked 2 50mts passes right on the money against Dublin. And then add in his free taking for me he is the best in the business.

Rory Beggan is up there with the best. He has been exceptional this year. His dead eye accurate kicking off the ground and out of the hands as seen against Kerry and Dublin especially is a joy to watch. He is a great shot stopper too.

Ray Galligan (Cavan), Chris Kerr (Antrim) are very good too. Ben McKinless (Derry) and Blaine Hughes (Armagh) two up and coming.

Cluxton from a perspective of being consistent for 10 years+

Clarke was the best keeper last year IMO.

I wouldnt swap either for our own though ;)
