Galway Vs Limerick

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

This is the match many people are dying to see as far as Div 1B is concerned but I just don't have the same enthusiasm as others do for this match. I have the strange feeling that Galway are not "all in" for this match. They haven't matched last years intensity and many of their big guns haven't played at all for varying reasons, etc.

I scrolled down the picks on the Hurling Predictions page and I see many of ye have picked Galway to win while I picked Limerick myself.

Am I missing something? Do Limerick have a ton of injuries? Are the big boys back for Galway? Is it home field advantage that enticed ye to pick Galway?!?

Reasons for tipping Galway
(1) Galway are defending league and All Ireland Champions
(2) Galway are playing at home
(3) Limerick have only beaten Galway twice in the League in the past twenty years
(4)Limerick have ten of their panel (NAP players) unavailable.

I think mostly to do with last seasons form and the fact that Galway are a team that can quite literally just turn up and hurl the opposition off the park. While I think Limerick have improved I am slightly worried at the goal count. We have been great at creating goal chances but the conversion rate is not good. Injury wise there was a bonus during the week with a few players having got the all clear.

Best of luck with the parking. Be careful you don't get clamped. There's no good place to park in Salthill and with a football match also on beforehand it's going to be even more of a car jam than it normally is.

I think Limerick might just win on Sunday.

Limerick are flying but haven't been tested yet. They've hardly even mentioned the NaPs lads they're missing which is interesting. If both teams turn up it could be a great battle.

Could be a big crowd there Sunday with the two matchs . Sounds like pearse stadium has no parking and clamping is an issue , is one as well walk out from Galway city centre or is there another option ?

Yep. Limerick fans have a bit of a dilemma as to get a parking space they would need to come early. With the Galway footballers going well there will be a big crowd in at 12.30. No more than the hurling the football is not just a routine league game. It involves two teams with serious ambitions of making a breakthrough. Us being younger might give us more time on our side than Monaghan but when is there ever a good time. One option would be to park in town and walk the 20 to 25 mins out of it is a good day. Appreciate that might not suit all for various reasons. Other option is travel early to Salthill and park along the prom or the carparks off it.

Good points. I forgot about the Na Piarsagh lads.

Hi openstand, thanks for coming to Salthill. There is parking along the promenades. It is a nice walk by the sea. So park along the prom and walk up Rockbarton road past "Leisureland". Follow the crowd.

I had thought this would be an easy enough win for Galway. Now i am not so sure. Limerick had a break last weekend and that will help them. Maybe a one point win for Luimneach? , hope Galway though.

Great occasion in Salthill, would not begrudge Limerick a trip to 1A but they will have to earn it.

True but I guess I was just curious why anyone picked Galway. I forgot the Na Pairsa lads.

What a game great comeback from Limerick to win it in the end. Galway fell asleep in the second half thought they had it won at half time

Galway played in the second half like we did in the first... They were like a different team, whether that was down to switching off or just excellent Limerick play I've no idea.
This is fantastic for Limerick hurling, we've been drifting for a few years now...this will be a huge confidence boost for a young team. Have to follow up with a really good performance in the quarter finals now.

There's a 4 letter word you could have put in before "game". The least worst team won today. Congratulations to Limerick.
