Bernard Brogan Serious Injury

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

It's being reported that Bernard Brogan has suffered cruciate ligament damage while training and will be out for the season.

Not his first CL injury but at his age have we seen the last of this great player?

Such a pity for him and the wider GAA community if it is.

All the best to you BB in your recovery.

Dublin having some rotten luck in the last number of games losing two hugely valuable assets in McCaffrey and now Brogan both to serious CL injuries.

It certainly limits Dublin's advantage. Time for someone else to make his mark but those are two seriously big pair of boots that need filling.

Bernard Brogan

Reports this morning suggesting his lack of of an appearance on Saturday evening is down to doing his cruciate

Rotten luck for the fella if true. Could be looking at being out for the whole championship campaign and giving his age and reduced playing time in recent years anyway, for me that would almost certainly be that for him and his incredible Dublin career.

Wish him all the best in his recovery and if we've seen him play his last game for Dublin, what a talent he has been. 5 allnirelands, 10 leinsters, 4 national leagues, a player of the year award, few all stars

One of the greatest Dublin players of all time

If this turns out to be true i think we have seen the last of Bernard in a Dublin jersey which is a shame, granted he is a fringe player now i would not be expecting to see much of him over the summer but in his day a fantastic footballer and i wish him a speedy recovery as he deserves better if this is the end of his county career.

Terrible news and a big blow for Dublin if its true. You couldn't meet a nicer fella. What strikes you about him is his hunger to play for Dublin, it really is incredible and disarming given his honors already. The timing of it couldn't be worse for him.

I know the majority will think we wont be seen for Dublin again, but i would be surprised if he retried personally, he will think he has unfinished business with Dublin. Given that some of the best players in the country last season were in their in their mid thirties i would be backing Bernard. Much i think will depend on how Dublin do this year, cant see many players turning their back on a five in a row if Dublin were to be successful in the championship this year.

What will this mean for Dublin, fierce competition i would think, we have plenty of quality forwards and a couple breaking through in Costello, McHugh, Small, Basquel etc. Big opportunity existing panel members and some of the young players.

Speedy recovery to the King of the Hill.

A pity if it's true, as he's a class footballer.

Seriously good footballer. If his people had stayed in Mayo we would have won two or three All Irelands. Unless we played him at full back which would be a distinct possibility. Hope he makes a comeback as it would be a shame if his career ended prematurely. There are a few corner backs who will sleep a bit easier if it's true!

Probably will end his career - if it does horrible way to end. Wish him well, indeed anyone who suffers this injury.

Awful injury for any player to sustain and at the age Bernard is itvmsjd it all the more difficult. Certainly wish the man a speedy recovery and hope it doesn't signal the end of one hell of an inter county career.

Really sorry to hear about Brogan's injury. He put us to the sword manys the time but it would be a sad way to finish for him if that's what happens. Even had both assists for the two goals against us in the league opener. Dublin have plenty of very good forwards to fill in but it's still a horrible injury for the fella. Speedy recovery to him.

Thats a pity although I'm not sure he would have been a starter for the Dubs this year. In saying that he has been one of the best footballers in the country over the last 10 years. I wonder will he now decide to call it a day after this? If he does he will be missed. Hopefully he has a speedy recovery.

Awful news for Bernard. He has been a terrific player and a great ambassador for the GAA for over 10 years. A sad way for his inter county career to end if it proves to be the case.

Terrible news for one of the greats.

In any other county he might think about coming back but with all young the talent Dublin have at their disposal then it is most likely the end.

A sad way to finish but he has left us with many great memories not least some of those truly terrible Supervalu ads!!

How old is brogan? I remember when he came on the scene first he had pure raw talent and was awful ratty and I didn't like him at all (nothing new from kingdomboy I hear ye dubs saying) but in fairness to him he settled down under pat gilroy and be became the excellent footballer he is now .

I hope we'll see him again next spring but maybe that'll have to do with wheather or not the dubs are on the drive for 5.

I may be bias but Bernard has been the best forward of this decade, not looking good for the future but he will go down as a legend.

This is probably the last we will see of B Brogan in a Dublin jersey.
A sad way to end his career, he may come back next year but it prob would be the season after he would be back to himself and at 35 that is likely too late.

I have to say as a Kerry supporter, he was the deadliest inside forward in the last decade. a pure poacher. I used to sh*t my jocks if he got the ball around the 13 yard line when playing against Kerry.

I wish Bernard all the best in his recovery.

Would agree with you there. He definitively IMO has been the best finisher for sure over the last decade, never needs much time to get his shot away in the tightest areas.

I always enjoyed his battles against Marc O Se in the years gone by. Always a pleasure to watch when not playing us. Hopefully we haven't seen the last the last of him but at that age it'll be difficult to recover.
