Kildare V Tyrone

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Big match for both sides now having lost opening two games. Make no mistake, Tyrone were awful against Galway in difficult conditions. Despite a poor second half against Dublin, we played much better than the opening week. Lee Brennan has earned his starting place. Our most reliable forward.

A league game against Kildare is the sort of time I'd expect us to come out and hit the ground running. I'd have preferred a really high performance league campaign but at this stage, I'd be very content to stay up. Tyrone have Kildare, Monaghan and Donegal coming. If we can win all three of them, the table will be much kinder to us. No room for failure with a trip to Mayo and Kerry at home to close the campaign.

Kildare haven't been too bad so far either despite results so I'd expect a decent game and potentially an early relegation four pointer.

Must win for both teams. New bridge always a difficult place to go. I see Lee Brennan scored a goal for UUJ today so he seems to be a good form. I thought McShane played well in last two matches and hopefully have Colly Cav back.
Looking forward to it.

The posts are correct this is a must win if Division One status is to be retained. Glad to see Lee Brennan getting a chance but the forwards as a whole have been poor while losing the last five league games and it might not be easily fixed.

Although Kildare are at home and will make it difficult for Tyrone I still would be surprised if they can pull off a win.
At the end of the day I think Tyrone will have too much experience against division one teams to get caught. They're a bit further down the road than Kildare in development terms.

i wouldnt fancy Kildare to beat anybody at the moment. One thing is for sure, it will be an awful game to watch given the slow, turgid rubbish both teams have been pedalling the last few weeks. Tyrone by 6. Or Kildare to beat themselves by 6, depends on whatever way you want to put it.

After watching us on Sunday I'd find it hard to see us beating Tyrone unless we can find an attacking spark from somewhere. If this is the level we want to be competing at we have to find more than we have so far. The home games will be running out after Sunday so it's a must win. Probably for Tyrone too. They will have the div 1 experience that we won't have but we have to start learning soon.

Kildare at home again on the same pitch a week after playing a similar type team. If they want to remain in division 1 they will need to learn from last week, Almost like a second chance to get it right.
Tyrone don't seem to have the same intensity of previous teams. but they do seem to be getting an attacking game going, If they take their chances in what's bound to be a tight match they should shade it

Tyrone are only warming up yet. They'll stay up easily when they get going. Using their wider panel will help them in the long run.

Colm Cavanagh has quite rightly been a big miss. I think we were prepared to lose two points to Dublin but the opening loss against Galway was seen as two of the easier points of the campaign and we went home emptyhanded.

I hope we get up and running as we usually do against weaker opponents. As a season ticket holder, I want to be attending division 1 matches like last week next year, The league has to be taken seriously.

It wouldn't surprise me too much if Kildare won this one - Tyrone are awful at the moment - team selection really confusing. When you have Aidan McCrory in the forward line then you know you're in trouble - surely Tyrone have better talent and forwards in the county than playing a very average corner back up front - tells you all you need to know about Mickey Harte and his tactics!!!!

Any news on the weather in Kildare? Bit of snow up here. Heard there was bad rain last night. Any updates would be great

No frost or bad rain around these parts. For all that the ground is a dump, the playing surface in Newbridge is as good as there is around. Game will go ahead as planned.

Did rain quite a bit but as far as I know everything is still good to go. Wrap up though, it's bloody cold! Safe travelling.

Did you actually watch that game? McCrory wore number 12, but was in the FB line marking Ciaran Kilkenny. This was part of a triangle of switches which saw Ciaran McLaughlin wear 2 but play at left halfback, and Peter Harte wear 7 but play at wing forward.

Again, it's hard to believe that anyone who actually watched the game, even on television, couldn't have figured that out.

Got to the Ballygawley roundabout and turned back there. Snow falling heavily and if you got caught in that in the way home you would be in trouble. No point risking it. It's on at 5 on TG4 I think so watch it on tv.

Correct decision, no point in risking life and limb.

I wonder if TG4 will bump the Tyrone Vs Kildare up in place of the called off Monaghan vs Kerry game?
