I just don't understand on what bases you think meath football would be competitive in division 1.

I would give you this thou..meath are the 3rd best team in Leinster

and Italy are the 6th best rugby team in europe"
well I can see why you don't want to get in to it when history has proven you wrong, which ever two teams goes up from div 2 will more then likely be competitive just like the majority of teams who were promoted before them have been, history doesn't lie, promoted this year from div 2 for me is cork then anyone from Meath Roscommon down

While Meath have trying to get promoted Kildare have had time to go from div 1 to div 3 and back to div 1 again. All we hear is 'nearly or almost' got promoted but fact is Meath didn't because there was always at least two teams better than you. Bit ironic someone from Meath trying to mock a div 1 team but whatever floats yer boat:)"
Not mocking them at all I've already said I hope Kildare survive in Division 1 for the betterment of Leinster football and the fact that we aren't up there had been over the years largely our own fault. Also Kildare were undoubtedly a better team than us last year but I don't think overall they are 10 points a better team, we were very naive in those games at times last year and I just don't think the gap between the teams is as much as that

The National League format of four divisions with eight teams in each league is ten years old this year. Here is a look back at the teams promoted from Division Two to Division One and how they have fared in the top Division.

2008: Division Two Promoted teams: Westmeath and the Dubs.
Westmeath got relegated in 2009 and the Dubs are still in Division One.

2009: Division Two Promoted teams: Monaghan and Cork.
Monaghan got relegated in 2011 and Cork got relegated in 2016.

2010: Division Two Promoted teams: Armagh and Down.
Armagh got relegated in 2012 and Down got relegated in 2013.

2011: Division Two Promoted teams: Laois and Donegal.
Laois got relegated in 2012 and Donegal in 2013.

2012: Division Two Promoted teams: Kildare and Tyrone.
Kildare got relegated in 2014 and Tyrone in 2015.

2013: Division Two Promoted teams: Westmeath and Derry.
Westmeath relegated in 2014 and Derry in 2015.

2014: Division Two Promoted teams: Donegal and Monaghan.
Both Donegal and Monaghan are still in Division One.

2015: Division Two Promoted teams: Down and Roscommon.
Down relegated in 2016 and Roscommon in 2017.

2016: Division Two Promoted teams: Cavan and Tyrone.
Cavan relegated in 2017 and Tyrone still in Division One.

2017: Division Two Promoted teams: Kildare and Galway.
Kildare look to be heading back down while Galway look safe.

The Dubs are the only promoted team that have never been relegated. There are four counties that have been promoted and have been relegated straight back down the following season and they are Cavan, Down, Laois and Westmeath and the midlands county did this twice. Kildare look like been the fifth county to do this. It has happened four times that both promoted counties have never been relegated together the following year. 2014 was the last time this happened and both Donegal and Monaghan are still in Division One.

Olly, you shouldn't try to break into this Meath/Kildare discussion. Even worse, you introduce facts - naughty boy.

Ah Neverright Leinster needs a good Meath and Kildare team like they were in 1990's. That 1997 clash between them after three matches was something else. Ah you can't bate stats and facts.
