A major headache for the GAA

(Oldest Posts First)

Where and when will this afternoon's postponed All Ireland club intermediate and junior semi finals be rescheduled? O'Connor Park and O'Moore Park were two of the chosen venues today but they will be in use next weekend for the start of the national leagues as will most other county grounds. Will the GAA open Croke Park for the clubs? The finals are scheduled for the weekend after next, Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 February.

Parnell park an option seeing as Dublin aren't playing at "home"

Not a hope in hell of Croke park being used.
They'll faff about for a few days and try playing on a Friday or something like that I'd bet.
This carry on happens every year with supporters having headed to a venue only to be told the game is off or moved.
There are few enough grounds that you would expect to be playable this time of year and surely there could be a bit of foresight used instead of this morning of the match kindergarten rubbish.

A bit of a joke. They can play concerts in Croke Park and cannot switch a few club matches there. It appears that they would like to have the GAA without clubs!

I doubt they can arrange several games and open Croke Park at a few hours notice.

Fix a semi-final for Croke Park and you will have lads moaning about how unfair it is that 1 team in the final has played in Croke Park before and the other team haven't. No matter what you do people will complain.

Look it's not a whole pile of games that need resheduling next weekend - four All-Ireland club semi finals. The GAA will not open Croke Park to accomodate these fixtures. No league fixtures in Pairc Tailteann, Parnell Park, Cusack Park Mullingar or Semple Stadium next weekend. They will probably fix Ardmore v Setanta for Navan again, Kanturk v Middletown for Parnell Park, Michael Glavey's v Kilanerin for Mullingar and An Ghaeltacht v Moy for Thurles.

Wouldn't they need agreement with the local residents to open Croke park, however small the crowd?

Probably and inform the guards, vendors, traffic plan, stewards, staff to manage WiFi, safety, security etc. Was Parnell Park available?

All four of yesterday's postponed All Ireland club semi finals rescheduled for next Saturday:

All-Ireland club IFC semi-finals
Michael Glavey's v Kilanerin, St Loman's, Mullingar, 2pm
An Ghaeltacht v Moy, Semple Stadium, 2pm - TG4

All-Ireland club IHC semi-final
Kanturk v Middletown, Newbridge, 2pm

All-Ireland club JHC semi-final
Ardmore v Setanta, Pairc Tailteann, 2pm

Some might think Thurles is unfair on Moy but it's roughly the same distance for An Ghaeltacht.

It's just under 4 hours from west Kerry to thurles. 3 and half hours if you got a clear run.

Well we know now what Croke Park think of the underdogs. While the big boys of An Gaeltacht and Moy are refixed for Simple stadium, Ml.Glaveys and Kilanerin get the honour of playing in Mullingar, and not even at the main (Cusack Park) venue but at a club ground.

Why didn't they throw on a double header at semple stadium and the tg4 cameras will there as well.

That would seem like a logical solution, but, as we all know, logic and GAA dont go hand in hand .most of the time.

True, and it would have been nice to watch the 2 games.
