Walsh Cup 2018

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Walsh cup starting tomorrow. Very early in the season! Offaly vs Westmeath will probably be the pick of tomorrow's matches. Two fairly evenly matched teams. Meath vs Antrim will be an interesting one too. Wicklow's first go at this level and playing Carlow tomorrow.

Beating Antrim becoming routine now for the mighty Meath.

Think the Walsh cup is a step to high for our hurlers at the moment, personally I would have concentrated on the kehoe cup, put out the strongest team and won it and got the year off to a positive start.

Yep - cos an Antrim side ( and an experimental Antrim side at that) is the benchmark of mightiness. Youse must fancy Liam this year..... Lol

It can be a target for Wicklow to improve.

Always important to get a few games against better teams.

Carlow have Wexford next which will give our lads an idea of where to aim at.

You seem a bit rattled. Calm down and move on to the next game. You wont be able to get a replay this time from us.

Credit to Wicklow on their brave entry (along with Kildare) into the Walsh Cup. They've also entered a second team into the Kehoe Cup. Has this ever been done before?

While it seems like Meath hurlers have the kibosh on Antrim lately, it's hardly worth touting in December pre-season.

If this happened in a football game we would never hear the end of it.

thought cody let himself down there, and if it was davy who refused to go to the stand there would be world war 3 on here.
it was a pre season tournament for god sake.

There are a few significant things here. Yes if Davy or anyone else behaved like this they would have the CCCC dealing with them. He has being getting away with this forever but no mike to pick up what he was saying.
There was something else that was significant even though it was just a pre-season. It reminds me of the great Kilkenny team just past. When they started out they played on the edge until they got on top of teams and then started to hurl. Were they trying to kill Chin before the season starts. Some of the tackling on him was reckless. One Kilkenny player ran 30 yards and took him out after the ball was long gone.

And he sat one row back. He was just being stubborn

This isn't the first time Brian has done this. His sideline conduct leaves a lot to be desired. As someone mentioned if this was Davy Fitz he would be getting hammered for it. But it's ok, Brian is just showing passion. Brian is a great manager, probably the best.
Let's see if he gets banned.

This is the test of Cody's temperament and I don't think he'll pass.Kilkenny aren't good enough anymore and we'll be seeing a more irascible Brian Cody.Davy was calm by comparison today.!

They put the wrong manager in a box at Wexford Park last summer.

Wexford must be getting under Kilkenny's skin. 3 defeats in the past year, Kilkenny lost their composure on and off the field yesterday. Interesting to see if Brian Cody will get a ban for his behaviour, refusing to leave the field when asked by the referee, and then sitting just 2 rows from the pitch.
