Castlebar players forced to jump wall to get to pitch

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

The Castlebar Mitchels players were forced to jump the wall to get to the pitch for a warm up before today's Connacht final at Tuam Stadium while the Corofin lads had the gate opened for their entrance. Were Castlebar out too early or is this poor sportsmanship? Any comments?

What if one of the Castlebar Mitchels players got injured jumping the wall? Disgrace that this went on at a provincial final.

What happened if the wall collapsed and West galway and east galway could finally settle their differences and become one united county.

The Castlebar manager said in a pre-match interview on their chances in todays game "we're not looking any further than the wall the moment".

Dylan Wall, the Corofin player?

I don't see the big deal about this. There is a designated area for warm ups behind the dressing rooms at Tuam Stadium and Mitchels should've done their warm up there like Corofin but instead broke the rules.

They were due on the pitch at 1.40 but came out at 5mins early, so people think that should stop a team entering the pitch..haha thats ridiculous way to think and is this designated warm up area the gravel area beside the dressing rooms?
People get a hi-vis top and cant handle the power haha..

Just to clarify what happened and this is a quote from the Galway forum, Both teams were told as usual with every team to conduct their warm ups behind the dressing rooms on the designated warm up area so as not to cut up the pitch doing drills, Corofin did so , Castlebar decided they wouldnt and went out on the pitch. The stewards had the gate locked and were trying to ask an official why they werent using the warm up area but the Mayo lads didnt hang around and jumped the wall and warmed up out on the pitch. Corofin came out later and the gates were opened for them.

It looked like Ballybrit in fairness. What was the story behind no National Anthem at a Connacht Final, are we declaring independence out in the wild west? Tuam 'Stadium" looks like an abandoned chip van from the 1950's, total joke.

Hahaha no they lost but if they had of won "jumping walls would be in for every team in Ireland next training session"

Also its my understanding that the running of everything on the day has nothing to do with Corofin .Its a Connacht GAA fixture and they outline procedures for everything.Could actually see Castlebar getting fined if they came out early as mad as that sounds.

Tuam Stadium was a kip hole 20 years ago and still is, nothing has changed, no wonder Galway county matches were moved to Salthill

Congrats to Corofin, who were the better side on the day, and good luck to them in the All-Ireland series.

However, this sort of thing from the stewards is the kind of petty nonsense that gives the GAA a bad name. It shouldn't matter if the away team are five minutes early out of the dressing room, open the gate and stop your messing.

We are indeed still very much the land of the gombeen.
Jaysus, lads jumping over walls to get on a pitch. The carry on that passes for proper standards by officials and the state of the place to boot.

They were hardly going out at 1.35 to do there warm-up for the game..like majority of places, you do the warm up somewhere else and then get to do a small bit on the pitch
