You could be right but I'm not so sure. Generally successful teams (of which Corofin certainly are) tend to build around qualities like selflessness and commitment to the cause. Jim Gavin, Eamonn Fitzmaurice and Jimmy McGuiness certainly are advocates of that. However maybe the club had looked at it and thought they could get over Fulham test without him and so agreed to it. I'm not privy to what the arrangements were so took it at face value that the player made up his own mind

It worked out well for the player in the end.

It did alright. Did away with the scenario altogether

You're probably right. I'd say they all came to this conclusion together.

What's the feelings now as to who's gonna claim the club titles? DoireCK (Derry) - Posts: 162 - 12/12/2017 18:20:00 2065013 Link 0 |
The hurling is a toss up between Cuala and Na Piarsaigh and I am backing the latter to reclaim the Tommy Moore Cup. No disrespect to Liam Mellows and Slaughtneil but I can't see them getting within ten points of their semi final opponents. Cuala and Na Piarsaigh would make for a great St Patrick's Day final between the previous two champions. Semple Stadium is the best hurling pitch in the country but I'm surprised to see it being chosen as venue for Cuala v Liam Mellows. I thought O'Connor Park in Tullamore which is 1 hour 40 mins from Galway city and roughly same distance from Dalkey would be a more suitable venue. For me the football is wide open but I'm going to tip Slaughtneil to go one better and maybe gain revenge on Corofin in the final? Munster double for me. I'd be confident that Na Piarsaigh will just about get over a fine Cuala side. Much less confident with the gaelic. I'd think Rangers will win it just but it's a real toss up with the Leinster Champions being the weakest of the four. PeggyShippen (Limerick) - Posts: 300 - 15/12/2017 17:26:16 2065275 Link 0 |
