Replying To BootIt:  "I think seanorinn is relating to Mark Kiernan Ballymacugh when speaking about discipline. Think he was sent off 1-2 times this year. Oisin Kiernan is also there but this wouldnt be an issue with him."
Sorry didn't realise kiernan from ballymchugh was on panel.

James McEnroe, Jack Brady, Niall McDermott, Fergal Reilly, Cian Mackey, Mossy Corr, Joe Dillon for a start. Heard Ciaran Brady also but not 100% sure on this one.

Replying To seanorinn:  "It appears that the Cavan setup is in complete disarray and I dont say that likely.
Numerous players unwilling to commit for various reasons.
top class s&c coach from last 3 seasons has left.
finbar reilly gone, j higgins gone and have not been replaced as far as i know.
new members of panel are not up to level required or even near it unfortunately
I dont know what the problems are or why so many are uninterested and unwilling to commit? Is it down to the training load and commitment required for no reward?

I just want to ask you a question you say top class s&c coach left after 3 years I am not sure he has been there 3 years but I will accept it if you think so. His contract as far as I know was S&C for the seniors juniors and U21 can any of the latter two teams mentioned tell me if he ever did a session with them. There is a new fitness coach in so let's see how fit he can get these players. None of the gaels team would be in if the county are training. Kiernan is a fine player but needs to be though discipline otherwise he will be a problem for any manager to depend on him despite his huge potential. I hear names being mentioned but no one has mentioned Sheridan from Arva in fact there are two others from Arva I would like to see being brought in if only to see how they would perform for I thought they showed excellent awareness and skill.
Just a little foot note if players or people involved with management cannot show respect for others they are well gone."
Im fairly sure he used to do the s&c with the under 21s for the last 3years but the juniors did not even enter a team last year and they wouldnt of been doing any training.

The League is starting a week earlier in 2018 so the pre season competitions starting earlier too.
A lot of counties would have had a few get togethers at this stage. The training ban on November and December was changed since it was introduced .

Was this an opportunity lost not using the previous years U21 team as a junior team ????

I have a feeling we will be going back to Division 3 after this year. Then hopefully a good manager will come in

Any updates on new players? Not much talk around the county and usually there is some new players getting their chance etc.

I hope that we can hang on to the spine of the team from last year. If we can do that and maybe have a couple of the Ramor lads in who couldn't commit last year then we will be ok in division 2. But consolidation in Div 2 is the most realistic target for the team.

Would love to hear more about who is in and out and can't seem to extract much info from usually reliable sources!!

All very quite about Cavan this year, usually this time of year there would be talk about which players and in/out and what our expectations are for the coming year.

The rumours were that several first team players from last year have opted out of the panel for next year, anyone know if this is the case and what new faces can we expect to see come the first Dr McKenna cup game in a few weeks time?

Mattie McKenna got badly injured in a challenge game versus Kildare.

What I've heard is it's a shambles. Players don't want to commit. Potential management team turning down a role.

I see a few decent players have opted out this year lads, Whats the reason behind it? Manager??

And dont get too down we had decent year last year after and everyone was crying over missing players for half the year

There's very little coming out from the actual camp. but its clear by listening to people that the supporters aren't happy with the management. I think that most of the reasoning for being unsettled is that back 5 years ago nearly we all thought cavan were on the cusp of a breakthrough and we were excited. alas it never materialised. its interesting to take a look at the cavan championship team every year since 2012. it'd blow your mind to see the turnover and its not all because of a competitive panel. by and large its through lads taking years out, leaving themselves unavailable etc. this year was hugely disappointing. there was some expectation after reaching the top tier but confidence quickly drained after a few poor or maybe naive performances. I think rightly so management did get some blame for the way the team was set up and from my viewpoint i felt the players didn't fully trust or know their role. they looked disjointed a lot of the time. I can't see anything changing this year and i expect the management will be changed and from my point of view Jason Reilly will be called upon.
