Scandalous carry on altogether tonight, any spill of rain at all and that pitch is deemed unplayable. Whoever is in charge of getting it ready needs to be spoken too.

Would Kingscourt not have a drier field?plus it rains less that bit more south east.

Were you in any way in the vicinity of cavan town today? The volume of rain that fell from 3-5 was serious! Theres nothing anyone can do for that!

I suppose it must only rain in Cavan so, was the sun splitting the stones in Portlaois and Carlow this evening? Our county pitch has been a joke for a long time now, for such a fine stadium it's a grand shame the pitch isn't better kept.

This match was in danger of being called off as early as 0830hrs this morning. I took pictures at that time and my post at that time to the powers that be if it does not rain anymore today we will have a game but if we only get a shower we will be in trouble. This afternoon the rain came down so heavy it was clear from that point this match would not be played. For one person or a hundred people to grape this pitch you would be wasting your time so not that you would understand this for the safety of players this match had to be called off which was done by an intercounty referee so there was no argument. The CCB did their best to play this game getting the pitch virti drained and let me tell you if we get whats forecasted from now 0035hrs there will be no match today Sunday take my word for it. If we are lucky to avoid it which I doubt this match will not be played. I will be happy to be proved wrong. If you want to see pictures of the condition feel free to text me and draw your own negative conclusion from the pictures I have. .

This is a cod. Not the first time our county pitch can't hold a game. Sort it out county board. Embarrassing stuff again

How to you play a game on over an inch of water and now this morning it is covered with snow. Don't blame the pitch the CCB but I expect what nature is throwing at us dictates what happens. You that knows it all tell the CCB through here to get it sorted. Do you realise that all rain that falls even out as far as Killygarry falls down to the river then it flows directly towards Cavan via the river so depending on how much falls it dictates how much the river fills up then the higher it rises the harder it is for water to flow from the pitch. You do realise that the pitch is in a hollow not on a hill. There is nothing that can be done about it so why not try and be realistic and accept what has been handed the CCB. Not their fault it's an act of nature. Even getting a new pitch later this year this issue will alway's be there so accept for what it is.

Sean - how many national league games have been postponed in the last 10 years in breffni? Not too many I'd say. There is a serious amount of whinging on the Meath forum (you'd swear their kip was as better)

The weather has been exceptionally bad in cavan lately. There's nothing that can be done so people need to wise up.

Serious stuff that you posted and as Sean said all the water from Killagarry flows down towards Cavan Town. ( Sean should know) and water level rises and it is difficult for the Field to drain.
I feel I ama Dragon that you must be a young Cub/Gausan that has no idea about water levels or how a ground should be maintained. Ballyhaise do small courses for people and indeed rather than chiding the grounds man he should be congratulated on keep the park in such good shape. Its odious weather since July 2017

Yes crazy for sure I am sure everyone would love to have had it played but thanks Tom & fredflint you are aware of the situation. One can only do their best but the elements got the better of us sadly,

Sean , the match been canceled due to the weather was no ones fault, no pitch in Ireland would have been able to cope with that level of rain, I never seen such a bit of whining that the Meath crowd are doing, they absolutely haven't a clue about what really bad weather can do.

I think you'll find the issue us meath fans have is the fact it was not called off until 1.5 hours before throw in. I knew there was gonna be a lot of rain in cavan because there was a yellow rain warning, what I didnt know was your pitch wouldnt be able to take it. It seems you guys knew the pitch couldnt take it but weren't aware of the weather alerts.

I would say next weekend it's a free weekend for national league football.
