I don't think anyone doubts what you say in relation to the abilities of those playing ladies football, the same would surely be true of almost every sport that requires physical strenght and endurance - nature dictates that. But it is an exciting brand of the game with its own unique styles a very direct game with a huge amount of running. As a spectator sport it is very watchable, exciting and these girls work every bit as hard as their male counter-parts to achieve success.

I thought Cora Staunton was getting a tough time alright too....but what a player she has been for Mayo. She kicked a great point from play in the second half but I think should have taken advantage of a few more in the first half. It might be time to consider being more of an impact player. Fair play the Dub ladies though. Finishing of Sarah McCaffreys first goal was great. seanfinn (Monaghan) - Posts: 360 - 25/09/2017 10:08:23 2050199 Link 0 |
I actually thought the ref was giving too many frees. Could've played the advantage a few times but didn't. Dub players tactically recongised the dangerous threat and double marked her. Tough for her but didn't see too much to complain about.

I know what you're saying Muck but everything should be looked at in its own context. You can't compare men's football to women's football. There's no point in it at all. You can only compare with what has gone before in the women's game. I'd bring the girls to as much Women's games as I can and I think we've seen the standard rise in the last few years, mainly thanks to the Cork team. The handling, foot passing (some of Trant's kick outs yesterday were superb), tackling and general play were excellent yesterday and much improved on the past. Noelle Healy's solo runs were a sight to behold, she sent two Mayo players wandering down Fairview way with two fantastic sidesteps! I think there are still improvements to be made, particularly when shooting but overall the game is coming along in leaps and bounds. Well done to both teams on visiting Temple Street on Monday after the game on Sunday . I know it's a tradition but a great advertisement for ladies Football that after losing the All Ireland final that the Mayo Ladies Team went in the visit those less fortunate when I'm sure all they wanted to do was get on the road back West. Plenty of smiles by them and were great with the kids by all accounts as were the Dublin team . dubshurling7 (Dublin) - Posts: 1017 - 26/09/2017 15:56:20 2050701 Link 2 |
