Great to see such interest in the women's game.

Two counties that have great supporters.

Getting an attendance of over 40,000 would be a fantastic achievement. There's a real sense of expectation surrounding this game - going far beyond the usual patronising "aren't they great" guff.

More luck to them...but isn't there a touch of rent a crowd about it? Half the crowd will be composed of screaming school kids getting in for free or brought there under a school package.

And why shouldn't they try and encourage underage support for the game? Its a great opportunity to showcase it and with Dublin/Mayo in the final a large crowd would be expected.

And did I say that they shouldn't? But it puts the thing of the "record crowd" in context.

Excellent news. Would love if they ended up with an attendance that could almost fill the Aviva. Hopefully mayo win too.

Why ?

You are always banging on about Leinster football, Dublin have lost their last 3 finals, Wouldn't you like to see Dublin girls finally get over the line ?

Or does you anti Dublin, poor leinster, tripe only exist with the fellas ?

It is fantastic that the Ladies All-Ireland final will attract such a big crowd tomorrow but it is hardly
surprising considering the outstanding football that has been played in the Ladies football finals
in recent years. It will be wonderful to see such great footballers as Cora Staunton & Sinead Aherne
in action tomorrow. Ladies football has been one of the fastest growing games in recent decades
and great credit is due to the women who fostered and have grown the game.
The ticket prices for tomorrow's All-Ireland final are €25.00 adult & €10.00 children, which is nothing
to do with rent a crowd. Your reference to screaming kids is most distasteful, children are perfectly
entitled to show their emotions at the match, they will have paid to get into the grounds and children
are the future of the games. Your post has a touch of sour grapes.

Maybe he just wants Mayo to win because he wants them to win.

Waynol, Dublin ladies have won an All-Ireland senior title relatively recently (2012), whereas Mayo haven't won one since 2003, which may explain it. I lived in East Meath for five years (near your adopted club) and can tell you that if there's one team that's hated more than the Dubs up there, it's Mayo!

As regards the composition of the crowd, I believe that there'll be a substantial Mayo travelling contingent. Would be great to see the 50k barrier broken.

I remember reading in the GAA's social history (published in 2009) that ladies' football is proportionately one of the most popular women's games in Europe, in terms of playing numbers.

Yes we are living in a world where people love to be offended and look for reasons to be offended.
I was at the camogie final and enjoyed it. If there are sour grapes around I've a feeling you're the one eating them.

Incorrect.

Womens rugby is by far the most popular womens sport in this country, nothing else comes close to it, according to RTE at least.

What's wrong with "screaming kids"? At least they will be trying to get behind their team?

Good to see a novel pairing in this final. Mayo going for their 5th title and Dublin only for their 2nd. It will be great for whichever team wins it. I have a slight preference for Mayo cos it would give the county a bit of a lift after losing the men's final.

Wayno Dublin won it recently mayo haven't. I'd actually like to see Dublin win too just not as much as mayo. In ladies gaa it's anybody but Cork for me.

I'm not anti Dublin. I'm anti dominance which is bad for the sport. I hated when kilkenny dominated the hurling and I now hate how Dublin dominate football.

BTW I supported Dublin hurlers before you did and cheered them on when they won leinster a few years ago in croker. I remember you used to be so anti Dublin hurling. Wouldn't even go to watch them. So take your anti Dublin notions elsewhere.

Maybe someday you'll leave the pale and realise how Dublin killed an entire provincial inter county championship. That's why I hate the current situation.

The ladies game has come a long way, some of the lead up play has been very impressive even if the execution isn't always top drawer, there's little or no hoofing and there's a purpose in everything they do, Good display of fitness too, hats off ladies.
I'll be expecting a knock on the door from the gender police at any minute.

Super attendance of 46,286 at todays All-Ireland Ladies Final. An International Rugby attendance.
Well done to the Ladies.

Great to see. Seen as the GAA is so motivated by money they should continue to build ladies football and camogie instead of gimmicks like the super 8s.

Not being biased lads but some of Dublins play was fantastic, congrats girls on landing the big one, and alas, once again, hard luck Mayo.
