This can be looked at both ways as how many Dublin backs would get in the mayo defence? As good as they all are I'd only have Mccaffery and either Cooper or Mcmahon alongside Boyle, Higgins, Barrett and Keegan!

Well AOS is about to get an all star, as is Tom Parsons (who oshea has kept out of the Mayo team earlier this year when he's played midfield). Fenton isn't.

I agree its a bit of a silly thread but I'll throw this one out how many of Dublin's starting 6 forwards last Sunday wouod get in the great Kerry forward line of Spillane Ogie Power Sheehy Liston & Egan I'd say in all honesty none would

That was a great Kerry team. The greatest football team in gaa history.I don't think the current Dublin team are near them.Kerry in the late 70s blew Dublin away in 2 consecutive Finals. They played brilliant attacking football.Don't believe there'll ever be a better team than Kerry 1978-1982.

Cillian O'Connor wouldn't make our starting team. I couldn't see him in an inside line that has Mannion, Rock, Kev Mc, Costello, Brogan all competing for spots. Besides, Dublin fans wouldn't take to his tantrums, hand raising, slapping the pitch. AOS on the other hand is a different matter. We don't have very good fielders in the middle. It's an obvious weakness. I'd take AOS there but IMO his engine is suspect, he did well on Sun but he usually struggles to get up and down in pacey games. We would be sacrificing mobility for physicality. Joxer (Dublin) - Posts: 4700 - 20/09/2017 18:58:46 2048710 Link 0 |
Strangely neither of them but at this moment in time Parsons, Keegan, barret, and A Moran would start.... ponger (Cavan) - Posts: 540 - 20/09/2017 19:02:27 2048712 Link 0 |
That means nothing.Fentons profile can't compete with the o'shea brand to be fair Thought AOS contribution on sunday was overrated. He was very good in the first half handling lots of soft ball when mccarthy went to wingback..however he disappeared in the 2nd half with mccarthy and Fenton losing midfield HuddHastings (Longford) - Posts: 144 - 20/09/2017 19:05:09 2048715 Link 0 |
Another Ridiculous thread by this poster. AOS would get a starting jersey all day long for Dublin. Gonna pick up his 3rd all star this year for god sake. maximus02 (Longford) - Posts: 168 - 20/09/2017 19:20:28 2048724 Link 0 |
This. Cilian has gotten big scores from play in most of Mayo's games this year, always amazes me that the 'can't score from play' canard is still out there. I suspect that that narrative is perpetuated due to some of the messing he gets up to rather than any cold examination of the facts. Gleebo (Mayo) - Posts: 2208 - 20/09/2017 19:25:38 2048730 Link 0 |
AOS. Big and strong but imho he is too slow for the role he's expected to play. Look at the amount of lateral runs and stops after offloading. Demands the ball but despite some good passes is generally slow to lay off and not quick enough to chase an opponent who is carrying the ball. A work horse but he was missing for the last 20 minutes of the final. Looked exhausted. Should have been substituted with the like of Keegan or someone fast put out to the centre.

You really couldn't expect O'Connor to break into a full-forward that scored one point in the first half last Sunday

Why are you taking this thread seriosly? Offside_Rule (Antrim) - Posts: 4058 - 20/09/2017 19:59:07 2048756 Link 0 |
Ha, you judge a full forward lines' capabilities based on 35 mins out of over 1,000 mins of league and championship football this season alone??? Seriously?
