The Super 8

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I see the rest of the fixtures have been released for rounds 2 and 3 of the super 8's. Group 2 have their final games on a Sunday 6 days before the first semi final is played meaning that one of the 2 teams that qualify from this group are at a disadvantage. Chances are Dublin will top this group and if I were to have a guess I'd say the team that comes second is this group will be the ones that get screwed over. I can see a few motions for change at congress in relation to the super 8's going. There is a 3 week gap from the semi finals to the final...why not have a 2 week gap after both the final round of the super 8's and semi finals?

Just saw that now, who ever did the fixtures hasn't a clue.

I also see the U20 final is down for 1:15 in crokepark on the Sunday before the dubs v Roscommon game wtf? The GAA must be expecting or hoping for a Kildare v Mayo final I'd say. As we're Playing Kildare at 6:00 the previous evening.

As to avoid a situation where the second semifinal goes to a replay and they play somebody in the final with three weeks rest while they will have been out 3 weeks in a row

Very impressed by the cohesion within Connacht & the support within the province for your own super 8's.
But sure I suppose as they say, Envy is a sign of admiration.

Madge will always have to support Kildare considering the player transfer relationship between both counties

We in Kerry see Galway as our main opposition in this group but it's great to see some of the weaker counties getting into the Super 8's. Can only be good for the game.

A cavan man showing his jealousy there. Unfortunately for that lot our route home with the cup will take in every town in Cavan.

That is totally irrelevant at this stage Rossie.
You will see soon there is a hierarchy within the so-called Super8 that will defeat the intended purpose.
Dont get too excited yourselves mind, Ros beat Leitrim and Armagh (just about) to get this far. The truth will hurt come Sunday, unfortunate but true.

The future is blue..... I always thought this was in relation to a resurgent Cavan dominating gaa not as a depressing outlook on super 8's.

Is there that much of a difference between 6 days and 7 days? Croatia have 3 days to prepare for a World cup final. If it was 6 days versus 2 weeks then you could argue a big difference.

Can't say I would be in agreement with any of these.

I think the Rossies will give Tyrone a serious run for their money and wouldn't be one bit surprised to see them do a number on them. Tyrone have don't nothing this year to show they're a top 4 team.

I fancy Dublin by 4-7 points, pulling away in the last 10-15 mins but hoping to see Donegal have a serious hop off us for at least 55 mins.

Monaghan v Kildare: I can't call this one. Kildare have serious momentum for sure but Monaghan won't fear them one bit. Will be a great contest.

Kerry v Galway: Again hard to call. Could well be a draw but if really pushed to pick a winner I'd say Galway by 1-3 pts. Kerry defence is average at best and if Galway forwards click they'll tear them open. All depends if Galway want to actually play a bit and not sit back though.

A wee side wager for you then Greysoil...

If my predictions don't come up I will bow out of this forum for 6 months and plant a Monaghan flag outside Breffni Park
What will you offer in return ?? Wear a Cavan jersey to Clones on Sunday week maybe?

Neverright my comment was in the context of these exchanges & referring to the secret admiration our Cavan friends hold for the Farney.
