I thought Colm Cavanagh, Dean Rock and Paul Murphy were all unlucky not to get a nod
Hard to argue with a lot of their selections though

As I said on a different thread I won't be surprised if the All Stars largely mirror the Sunday Game team of last night, 7 Dubs 7 Mayo and 1 Kerry give a fair assesment of where football is at right now

Lee Keegan is the best footballer in the country by a good distance so has to be on the team.

It sums up where football is at the moment. I think its sad. In 2010 for example cork kerry down dublin kildare and louth were all represented on the team. In 2003 tyrone armagh fermanagh laois galway tipperary and donegal all had all stars. Admin wouldnt let me post this yesterday but i thought the comments by the gaa president on the sunday game last night were very worrying when he said that the gaa is all about excellence and the cream rising to the top.

As a 100% neutral, i didn't see a whole lot wrong with the team of the year picked last night. TBH Geaney was lucky to be picked as IMO Dean Rock without a doubt also deserves an all-star for his performances this year so that would have made it an 8/7 split to Dublin over Mayo which i believe is accurate. I can't understand people moaning about players that played well in previous rounds not getting picked. Nominations are the best these players deserve on this years form. This was Mayos 10th match of the year and most of their players have played outstanding at various times so all their picks are well and truly deserved. Id have Lee Keegan in my team all day as well. Best man-marking job i've ever seen by a player yesterday. Kilkenny routinely picks up anywhere to 40-60 possessions in a game. Only managed 8 yesterday and Keegan got forward to score a cracking goal and potentially should have gotten a penalty for good measure as well. Jason Doherty must be very close to an all-star as well, hugely under-rated player. Tyrone flopped so badly in the semi final, i feel none of their players deserve an all-star. Sean Cavanagh didn't give Mayo any hope in his pre-match analysis and although they didn't win I think they proved him well and truly wrong. Tyrone got their tactics completely wrong and I don't believe any of their players would make the current Dublin team and I include Peter Harte and Mattie Donnelly in that. They are still miles away from the top prize and will hopefully change up their horrible style of play. This years championship has been a damp squib apart from the endless entertainment Mayo have provided all summer and you just have to admire the way they keep coming back. Dublin routinely beat everyone by 10+ points without ever leaving third gear and it is a testament to Mayo that they are every bit their match. Congrats To the Dubs, they are truly an outstanding team and well deserved winners yet again. Always show so much composure in the final few minutes when it means the most and you just get the feeling that they will grind out the victory. I applaud them!
