Thats a fair point for the Cavan folks to take on board....Our lovely neighbours are not known for their fondness of parting with their cash.

The lesser famous curse of course tells the story of a Mayo priest on his way to the missions in county Monaghan in late 1952. As he crossed into Cavan (a big rival of Mayo at the time) The Cavan boys were bantering away telling him that only for Cavan took a rest in 1951 they'd have won no all ireland. He got right p*ssed off and told them Cavan would win no all Ireland until Mayo did. He then went on to Monaghan and cursed them to Never win an all Ireland because Patrick Kavanagh wrote some poem insinuating Sex before Marriage. talk about Contrary !!!!!!! theweanling (Cavan) - Posts: 414 - 05/09/2017 11:37:38 2042922 Link 2 |

These curse things get too much publicity. Although with Mayo I suppose you can see why. They've been far far too close too many times. So many finals, two replays. Two own goals in one game. I guess at times it seems supernatural but It's bad luck and no more. Weird to think of a time that Mayo and Cavan were winning all-Ireland's regular. Any other counties have a curse that we are unaware of eg Kildare. Byanthon (Tyrone) - Posts: 1780 - 05/09/2017 13:37:43 2042964 Link 0 |

realdub, I think everybody's curse is now called Dublin, unless of course Mayo can finally overcome their own curse.
