Can't agree. If he did his last game in Croke Park would have getting a black card exit. Another Ulster title for him this year too.

Thought it was sad today that Sean didn't seem to get any real kind of ovation when he went off. Game already over so would have expected might have been one of those occasions where both sets of fans got on their feet & said goodbye. Legend of the game. Not a tyrone native, but basis of gaa is we all support class & that was Sean Cavanagh

Yep. This isn't the thread to discuss the match but also want to pay tribute to Sean cavanagh. The greatest player of his generation imo. 3 all irelands? A poty, numerous allstars and ulster titles
He will retire with no regrets

Class player, so instrumental in getting Tyrone 3 All Ireland's. The heartbeat of the Tyrone team over the years and will be sorely missed. Saw him tear us to shreds a couple of times over the years. Enjoy the Inter-county retirement, Sean.

fantastic player and was my favorite player when I was much younger,
I've seen him many's a time do his shuffle and swing over points against us but looking back they were a joy to watch , especially in Croker 2013 and 2015 and most recently when he came on as a sub up in Omagh this year,
Delighted to see him stick at it this year and get another Ulster medal to his name.
Best of luck in your career and thanks for everything Sean.

Replying To Soma:  "An excellent servant who delivered on most of the big days. I would have loved to see him play on a team with more of an attacking focus to see how good he could have been in a traditional system, I think he would have really shone."
1.) Tyrone regularly put up big scores.
2.) He did shine for Tyrone. Man couldn't shine any more than he did.

Replying To bulmccabe:  "very few of his team mates today stood up to be counted when it mattered or did anything to make what was possibly his last game at least a contest. lucky to be getting away if that's the crap tyrone are going to persist with, though I doubt the new management would continue with something that was shown up today for what it is, bs at least in a semi final you should be looking for ball not standing waiting on the opposition to make a mistake or give you a ball so you can break free"
Fish elsewhere. Two posts from you lamenting Harte and his style of play. Not the place to do it.

As he was being subbed, A few of us dubs stood up and applauded, the last time we'll see the great man, the warrior.....the last time we have to worry about what you'll do.....Thank you Sean, thank you for everything

Yes I saw that, and on the Hill a very many Dubs applauded him off also.

Nice to see the Dublin players line up after the game to shake his hand as well.
Fully deserved recognition.

Great player and legend of Tyrone football.

Replying To Liamwalkinstown:  "Now is not the time to talk about the match. Sean Cav you are a legend. A genuine bona fide legend. I felt for you today. You did not deserve that. Thanks for the memories. Love from Dublin. Good luck."
Fair play Liam - At the game today and as I've seen before the Dub fans were very magnanimous in their victory - no gloating whatsoever - so praise where praise is due you're message about Sean Cavanagh will be well received as was the banter in the pubs after the game. It's a pity Tyrone didn't turn up but as far as Sean is concerned he owes Tyrone nothing - it's a pity his team mates and Tyrone strategy today didn't give him the proper send off he deserved.

I need to be careful how I write this a great player and servant for Tyrone but Tyrone have had many great sevants down through the years who have been and gone without the fanfare. Many of these great players never had the opportunity to play in great teams and win what he did. I am sorry if it offends but Sean's best years were behind him and life doesn't always serve fairytale endings.

A great player who always gave everything he had to every match he played for the red hands. He sure will be missed. Lovely to see the respect shown to him by the Dublin team at the end of the match.. Great sportsmen. What a team.

Replying To bulmccabe:  "wasn't impressed with harte taking off Cavanagh even he wasn't his usual self but there were younger players who let the side down big time, like McClure missed 3 sitters mc carron also should have left him on and moved him in closer, not nice from harte to end seans outstanding service, the man owes no one in tyrone anything or even the gaa as a great ambassador of the sport."
Sean is without a doubt a legend of the game, to say to be disappointed that Harte took him off has been the norm this whole season! Sean has been an absolute credit for Tyrone all from 02-17 The man will go out as one of greats

15 years of great service and the inspiration of the 2008 all-Ireland win against Kerry. One of the Tyrone greats.
